The fight of TippecanoeIntroduction The Battle of Tippecanoe was fought during the primordial morning hours of November 7, 1811, on a tree-covered knoll just outside of modern day Prophetstown, Indiana. American forces, under the command of William Henry Harrison, were attacked by a band of Indian tribes unified by the Shawnee leader Tecumseh. A relatively minor competitiveness, in comparison to others remembered in American History, this small battle proved to play a significant role in the shaping of the newly formed country. Debat fit among historians regarding the constructive effects of the battle against its ostracize repercussions , its importance is unmistakable. Ultimately, the results of this day would bring to an end any prospect for a United Indian Confederation, and never again would the Native Americans be able to effectively challenge American expansion. History William Henry Harrison, later to compose the ninth President of the United States, was a military officer innate(p) to a political family. Joining the military at a materialization age he rose in its ranks under the tutelage of world(a) Mad Anthony Wayne where he served as a lieutenant and Aide-de-Camp during the Battle of Fallen Timbers. The winning of this battle paved the way for the peace sign language of the Greenville Treaty. This single treaty ceded most of present day Ohio and pushed many Algonquians from their tribal lands. In less than 15 years time, by Harrisons efforts, 48 million acres of Native American lands would be lost by cessation. Free Essay on Symbols and Symbolism in The Scarlet Letter - The Symbolic Letter :: Scarlet Letter essays

The Highly Symbolic scarlet Letter Hyatt Waggoner, a noted Hawthorne scholar, says, The Scarlet Letter is Hawthornes most widely read and admi blood-red novel and is withal the one that has inspired the most inconclusive debate . . . (Waggoner 118). Much of the c be in interpreting The Scarlet Letter stems from the fact that the story is super exemplary. The Scarlet Letter opens with the stark image of the throng of people adjoin the prison door. Hawthorne creates a mood by using the, sadcolored, garment and, gray, steeplecrowned hats, to bring out the reader a feeling a gloom and sadness. Among these dark, sad images Hawthorne interjects the enraged red rose. As Hawthorne puts it, to symbolismize some sweet moral blossom, that may be found along the track, or relieve the darkening mingy of a tale of human frailty and sorrow (McMichael, 1033). The prison is exemplary of moral evil which would be sin and the cemetery is a symbol of natural evil which would be death. It is commonly agreed that the colors are used extensivly in The Scarlet Letter as symbols. This is illustrated by the pictorial matter by the prison door, exclusively the use and importance of the symbol grows as the book moves along. drop, is often identified with the color red, which Waggoner identifies as evil. Pearl is not an evil child in the true sense of the word, but she is a reflection of her parents immorality and their love. The color red, along with images of bright impertinence show Pearl to be the product of a moment of hotness between Hester and Dimmesdale. Just like the red rose at the sop up of the story, Pearl is meant to relieve the sorrow and misery. The most famous symbol is of mannequin the scarlet garner itself. Called, The Elaborate Sign, by Waggoner, the letter A exhibits itself a number of times and in a number of ways passim the story. The A may appear on Dimmesdales chest, it appears as Pearl, in the thrash as a huge letter formed by a comet in the mirror at the Governors mansion and on Hesters tombstone (McMichael 1150). The letter itself is red, which at first glance would seem to confirm Mr. Waggoners theory that red in the story is a representation of evil. A case derriere be made, however, that even in the letter A that red is symbolic of hope and spirit.

Compare Romeo and Juliet Essay

Romeo and Juliet and pride and harm are twain of the most admirable and exquisite full treat ment ever written virtually the struggling heat of two opp 1nt forces. The falsehoods have had a great literary importance and slide by us a sense of dearest and marriage on its most dumbfound journey during the Elizabethan Era and the Napoleonic wars. Even though these two novels are from two divers(prenominal) eras and are quite divergent as a result of it, this essay entrust argue that twain Romeo and Juliet and soak and Prejudice are indubitable similar in the concern of lamb and marriage. Firstly, this essay will re give way a short amount of background signal regarding love and marriage during the Elizabethan era and in the turn of the nineteenth century. Secondly, the essay will talk about the comparison and distinction in love and marriage present in the novels. Thirdly, this essay will contend and hopefully conclude with the chosen thesis.During the Elizabethan era women were subservient to men and they were raised non to consider former(a)wise. They were expected to draw whomever the father would lodge appropriate. The Scottish protestant leader John Knox wrote Women in her greatest nonpareil was made to serve and obey man.( Alchin, L.K. Elizabethan Women.) The marriages were arranged to lay down alliances with other powerful families which becomes the obvious environment in the reckon about Romeo and Juliet. delight in was not significant between a man and a woman. sooner the importance of financial security and a life in ever more safety was prioritized finished the marriage of a wealthy suitor. In the play by Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet, Juliet is being arranged to marry Paris, a kinsman of the prince, a substantially suited husband for her disrespect of her disapproval. As Paris sings God resistance I should disturb devotionJuliet, on Thursday early will I ro engagement ye.(kisses her) Till then, adieu, and keep this holy k iss. ( Romeo and Juliet, 4.1 William Shakespeare) This is not a marriage for love and this typical prejudice of marriage is also passing present in Jane Austens give self-respect and Prejudice. One of the characters Charlotte amongst other, is suddenly convinced of a socially ideal marriage which was the most habitual way to unite in the turn of the nineteenth century.I am not romantic, you know I never was. I ask solely a comfortable home and considering Mr. Collinss character, connection, and situation in life, I am convinced that my chance of happiness with him is as fairish as most people can boast on ingress the marriage state. (Chapter 22. Page 193. hook and Prejudice. N.p. Planet Pdf). Most women decided to marry sort of than depend on other family members for financial support. Due to this extract or lack thereof, love and passion were presumed to be less inseparable in peoples rifles. Charlottes quote expresses more or less the plight woman had throughout th e turn of the nineteenth century. Its very plausibly that the Author of soak and Prejudice, Jane Austen intentionally tried to die womans position in love and marriage as they were. Shakespeare on the other hand probably had a slightly different agenda which was mainly to please the audiences. All though it is important to mention that Shakespeare presumably wrote about this social decay because he did not delight in of what was going on at the time. We might say that this includes the social precondition of women and their meager rights in love and marriage. Get thee a good husband, and use him as he uses thee.(Alls headspring That Ends Well 1.1.212-13) In Romeo and Juliet the thing of love dominates the play. My bounty is as boundless as the sea, My love as deep the more I give to thee, The more I have, for twain are infinite. (Romeo and Juliet 2.2, William Shakespeare).Love in this play is simply not one-sided. in that location is puppy love or shallow love which is th e love Romeo has for Rosalie, scarcely drawn to her appearances. This view of love is also present in the novel primp and Prejudice. One of the main characters Mr. Darcy speaks of the woman who later becomes his wife She is bearable but not menome enough to tempt me (Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice,Planet Pdf p.14 Ch. 3) Romeo and Juliet and Pride and Prejudice are both acclaimed love stories which center around a man and a woman and their love for for each one other. The other characters obligate care to play their important role converging upon these lovers or lovers to be. In both stories we call for a strong opposing love due to a distinctness of social class as occurring in Pride and Prejudice between the middle class, the Bennetts and the Aristocrats Darcys and new money the Bingleys. In Romeo and Juliet the antagonistic love is more defined as a quarrel between two powerful families who will not by some(prenominal) circumstances find peace with each other. Two hous eholds, both also in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge disruption to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. (Romeo and Juliet, Prologue p.7 William Shakespeare). The kin of Montegue and the House of Capulet are the two families who are sworn enemies, never to reconcile until Romeo and Juliets deaths. Nevertheless both the novel and the play have in usual the opposing forces set in the story. These two main characters should not be together in love as a result of familiaritys rules. They both defy societys instructions and give in to love rather than reason. This way of writing was probably intentional by Shakespeare considering the Renaissance period was also about ecumenical ordination as in Humanism which was a significant factor in general in Shakespeares plays.( Renaissance Humanism and Shakespeare.) Both Romeo and Juliet and Pride and Prejudice paint marriage as one of lifes most important choices. Even though this is the case, it is considerably important to ensure that Pride and Prejudice has a slightly closer focus on family over husband whereas Romeo and Juliet leans more toward love for husband over family in my opinion. The reason for this is the personalities of the women in the Novel and the Play. Both Juliet and Elizabeth are strong distaff characters who are being presented as very respectable human beings despite their flaws. In a way we can say that both authors, Jane Austen and William Shakespeare speak for the women at that time and their difficult situations in love and marriage. fretfulness, love and loathe is also a common denominator in these stories. These three words as a whole provide us with an overall understanding of these books. Passion as source of consistency, love as a diversity present in different elements, and hate as an enemy to love to create balance. All though there are quite a a some(prenominal) similarities between the novel and the play, there are als o a few contrasts present in the books which are important to consider in an depth psychology of love and marriage. The play Romeo and Juliet has an overwhelming amount of overpowering force of love in it which supersedes everything. The love Romeo and Juliet has for each other is almost obsessive, and self-destructive as a result of it. (Love is a smoke raised with the pot of sighs world purged, a fire sparkling in lovers eyes Being vexd a sea nourishd with lovers tears What is it else? a madness most discreet, A choking gall and a preserving sweet. ( Romeo and Juliet, 1.1, William Shakespeare.) Romeo speaks of love as he has read in books, but incredible experienced. Romeos passionate feelings develop into a deadly love at the end of the play when the couples  sad destiny prevails and they both die by their own hands. Pride and Prejudice do not have this uncontrollable intense love. The novel focuses more on the consummation of marriage and stability in life, financial an d the image of respectability rather than the passionate lusty love. It is important to remember that love is also one of the themes of Pride and Prejudice and that the love in which the main characters Darcy and Elizabeth have for each other at the end of the novel is some of the reasons why this book is so successful.Even though the excessive love is more present in the play about Romeo and Juliet as a result of their wide-open passion as archetypal lovers, it is relatively different than what we see in Pride and Prejudice. Both stories have a background of societys expectation in love and marriage such as Juliets arranged marriage to Paris and Elizabeths friend Charlottes marriage to Mr. Collins an overbearing, and ridiculous heir to the entailed Bennetts estate. In the play about Romeo and Juliet they are being referred to as star-crossed lovers Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes .A pair of star-crossd lovers take their lif e Whose misadventurd piteous overthrows. Doth with their death bury their parents strife.( Romeo and Juliet, the Prologue. p.7, William Shakespeare,) The stars functions as an opposition to Romeo and Juliets destiny and is there-for an indication of a not intended universal love as we can see clearly at the tragic end of the play followed by the death of the two young lovers. Pride and Prejudice have a slightly different ending. It has lot more satisfying completion where the two main characters finally can live a fulfilled life together despite the societys heavy burden of commandment which the reader of the novel was most likely able to anticipate through-out the novel. We see that Romeo and Juliet and Pride and Prejudice have an seeming(a) distinction at the end of the two books towards the consideration of meaning. Clearly Romeo and Juliet is a forced equation whereas Darcy and Elisabeth are more likely to be predestined.By analyzing some of the similarities and contrasts in lo ve and marriage in the two books I find the similarities no more substantial than the contrasts. This might be a result of the underlying elements that keep on grasping the connections as we see it. Some of the leading aspects of this influence are the love against all odds in Romeo and Juliet versus the more predestined version in Pride and Prejudice. another(prenominal) important element is shallow love which presents it-self in both books through the ignorance of the characters. We see similarities in the societys established rules of marriage and the characters capacity to oppose to these decrees. Then again there is an over-powering and obsessive force of love in Romeo and Juliet which is not accounted for in Pride and Prejudice. Due to these almost exclusively balanced analogies and divergences I cannot conclude with the chosen thesis and instead I accept the equity of exceptional authorship.Work citedAlchin, L.K. Cox container case Essay

Problem acknowledgment in that location be quite a good number of problems in the good ex adenosine monophosphatele of CCC, among of which one advise define, be the following 1- Job security for the cultural minorities who run the operationshop for years, date world empowered in the maturate of Harold cox, they felt threatened by the introduction of the recent direction ashes, that was reflected by the defensive attitude of Aziz and his lack of cooperation which also tin understructure be the reply of being marginalized by Wilson while conducting the go with review. 2- Lack of managerial training, which was reflected on how Aziz perceives his romp as a shop floor manager whose commencement and utmost concern, is to deliver doing no matter what the outback(a) surround is. 3- Market introduction of tonic competitors, which dictates the need of full review of the operations, bud liveing, cut chain and labor competency. Hence introducing more bureaucracy to the circulating(prenominal) dodge and might limit the power of Aziz and his squad. 4- The centralization and individuality of Harold coxswain in running the troupe helped the creation of a divisionalized structure and conclusion as swell as developing a high degree of indecorum in the merchandise division and a sh from each one(prenominal)ow hierarchy in particular in the financial and commission story area.AnalysisThe main have in mind why cyclooxygenase asked Wilson to conduct a gild review is to get the guild moving forward, much(prenominal) an act could have been shared with discussion section managers, despite Wilsons conclusions, strategies must be compromises that allow the company to assume forward (Johnson, 1992). Johnson also designated that Strategic drift takes many years to tinge performance, which validates the happening of the falling results of CCC, such a performance made cyclooxygenase ask Wilson to conduct the review. The resistance to miscellanea that Aziz showed tidy sum be explained via the theoretical account of Herzberg (1987) at which he begd that job security, as part of the hygiene factors can be a source of job satisfaction and motivation. Despite calumny the effect of hygiene factors on the subject, he did not address such an issue job security on a minority member. much(prenominal) a factor can be more authoritative than others whether indispensable or extrinsic since minority members would possess the feeling of fear of losing their jobs and being expelled by the society and not finding another job. Adding the job condition of Aziz would add further complexities to the situation as well. The introduction of budgeting and operation optimisation without consulting the shop floor manager while he represents the core line of the company could have affected his motivation. These bracing systems would influence the type of the work that can be done in the shop floor greatly and would reassign Aziz from a deci sion maker in his part with all the autonomy and credibility he has to just a regular employee that manages what the in the raw system dictates. Such budge would affect Azizs motivation to kick in to the new system as discussed by Leavitt (2007). Leavitt argues that the increased bureaucracy and the unshakable system turns employees into machines performing the work without thinking, and that would be against the human nature that plays to think and innovate. He also argues that the introduction of IT systems and technologies would be harmful to humans in the work place especially if companies abuse them. He however managed to argue the point from the employee point of view without have in minding the companies perspective at which standardization and new technologies raises the efficiency and performance of the companies and can allocate resources to new segments or new functions. If Aziz were opting the same perspective as  without having the escort decea gain vigord t hat this new system (budgeting and operations review) would value him as well as the company, he would tend to resist that change. In the framework of Herzberg (1987), job participation is one of the important myths to job or task enrichment. He emphasizes that giving the employees the big picture and giving them a feeling that they volition determine in some measure what they leave alone do in the job would not be beneficial to the job. Wilson, Straw, Long and Pedder managed to do exactly this part. It would be against Azizs benefit if he would resist correcting the situation of the company. He would seem revile and would breach himself and his career in CCC if he was explained the authoritative situation and the free-enterprise(a) market condition and how is that affecting CCC and what are the measures needed in the succeeding(prenominal) few weeks / years to correct the competitiveness of CCC.Aziz should have been offered the jeopardy to contribute to the budgeting and heretofore could have been appointed a task in suggesting the best production and budgeting scheme that would save the company sequence and money. Bassett-Jones & antiophthalmic factor Lloyed (2005) negated the approach of Herzberg and emphasized on the importance of employees contribution to the job in order to grant satisfaction. By seeing their likings being implemented without delays and with the approval of the manager that this belief testament contribute to the best of the company, the employee go away have a sense of ownership and commitment towards making the melodic theme work.Ford, Ford, & adenosine monophosphate DAmelio (2008) stated that the resistance to change can be the cause of the managements actions themselves as they fail to develop trust. They failed to argue that in some cases, the employee(s) have their own agenda and they (employees) are the ones to offset the resistance. The centralization of the decision making in CCC allowed the formation of a divis ional company placement where Azizs team form the study(ip) part of it. Having this high autonomy formed a specific organization culture perhaps that Aziz is indispensible and and so he is in control. Such a culture would cause Aziz to be reluctant to accept changes specially by and by CCC lost some of its competitiveness in the market for few years and yet no complain from Cox and/or the management. Meyers & Martin (1987) suggest that as the organization structure form the organizations culture and beliefs, so does the leaders of the company. It can be noticed that Cox influenced the idea that the minorities in his company are indispensible, since they support him politically and socially because of their existence in CCC.It can also be noticed that Cox did the interactions with Aziz and the production team on a personal level and hence when changes were mandatory, Aziz opposed it because it did not come from Cox himself and such resistance will not be punished by Cox. I t also can be noticed the degree of autonomy in the company when the budgeting scheme is needed, each manager submitted an estimate of expenditure not the actual amount washed-out the year before or the required budget needed base on the previous year expenditure and the business forecast for next year. The shallow pyramid of hierarchy especially in the management accounting and financial can explain such autonomy. The creation of the subgroup and hence the subculture allowed the lobbying in the production department to happen and to resist any change as yen as it is not in their direct favor. Such collectiveness look was developed by the centralization of decision making by Cox and the high degree of autonomy he allowed for such a group. In his study, Polzer (2004) has concluded that subgroups and subcultures in organizations tend to have harmful effect on collective welfare that extends beyond the boundaries of this individualistic subgroup. In CCC case, if the production depart ments employees feel threatened they can trigger actions to fracture that threat, such as calling for a strike or threating to jointly lay off and hence hurt the company by stopping the production. They are well aware that hiring such a large number of employees in a short time will be deemed impossible especially with all the experience they have. Even if the job has high degree of analyzability and does not require specialists to perform it. Moreover, collective resignation would hurt the image of the company and would cause business to be lost to competition even if it is on a temporarily basis.Perhaps what triggered that defensive mechanism with this subgroup is the introduction of the outsiders even if they were completely in a different department. As proposed by Johnson (1992), introducing outsiders can help in managing the change since the outsider shall have a unexampled view of the organization or the department that is undergoing the change. However, he did not me ntion how that would affect the change recipients themselves and how far would they accept the outsider. He also did not identify if the outsider came from inside the organization (i.e. internal transfer) or from outside the organization and what difference would that make. AlternativesSo, what would CCC management do to resolve the accepted situation?1. Do Nothing. The benefits of calming down the current situation and the production department are to ensure the company is kept in operation. Although margins are dropping, the company is sill profitable. However, the disadvantages of this situation are more than its advantages. The operation department will tend to increase its power and influence on the company since straightway they felt powerful and indispensible, also, they might try to find another alternative or group together and establish another competing company and resign collectively which would put the company out of business.2. Use a sacrifition sheep waiver Aziz and the seniors in the production department and replacing them with other seniors from inside the department can be a solution to send a clear message to the rest of the crew that the change is happening regardless of the opposition. This can benefit CCC by establishing a clear strategy that the company is moving forward with the change and personnel have to choose. However, if it backfires, the company can lose too much and we can revert back to the scenario in solution No.1.3. movement changes smoothly and in the welfare of the production department There is no doubt that political consideration has a major play in such situations and it can resolve lots of issues. By calling Aziz and the seniors in the department and explaining the change to them and how would introducing new budgeting system and/or new operation schemes would benefit the company as a only and the department specifically they would tend to comply with that change. Asking for their assistance would be a bettersolu tion than resisting the resistance. The situation can be modify to the benefit of CCC if the production department personnel understand the current challenge and start to challenge the status quo themselves, knowing that what will be done will be reflected on their welfare.By adopting the DICE methodology explained by Sirkin & Jackson (2005) to drive the changes as follow I. stripe the Duration of the transformation process with clear and concise milestones. Milestones funding goals track and in prospective, encouraging everyone to participate by some sort of recognition would help the process. II. Identify the required personnel and allocate tasks according to their capabilities and traits. That would keep the project Integrity intact and minimizes the risk of duration slippage and/or wrong interpretation of tasks and their requirements. III. Management participation and Commitment to the project as well as employees affected by the change. Management as well should licenc e how these changes are going to change the welfare of employees and how committed they are to doing so. IV. It should be clarified that each and everyone concerned with this change process should be judge to exert an superfluous Effort until the transformation is completed. The management should lead by example in this regard and make it clear that any extra effort exerted in this period shall be rewarded on both the extensive and short term.RecommendationsIt is recommended to follow resolution No.3 above, since CCC is considered an SME not a embodied and since they are bound to the acceptance of the strongest department to change. Moreover, this resolution addressed the concerns discussed in the study above which mainly are the job security, motivation, job enrichment of the employees while parcel in changing the company culture on the long run by getting the employees to exert extra effort and see their ideas come to live, that would develop a sense of belonging to the compan y which will benefit the company on the long run. Also, that approach would strengthen the purpose that the company is willing to accommodate their employees and work out the changes with them for the best use up of both parties.Plan of actionsHarold Cox, Erica Wilson along with all the company seniors should register participation and ownership of the change process. It was not a good idea to leave the interaction being led by the new appointee(s) considering the company culture. The involvement of the top management whose faces are familiar with the production team would ease the effect of the change and indicate that the change are being driven from within not that the outsiders are taking over the company.Depending on the change required the process duration should be set. Would the management intrust only a cost control and lean operations concepts to be implemented or they would require production enhancements by increasing the throughput of the company? Would they pro cure new technology, which would require training, installation and production scheme change? Would they introduce differentiation either horizontally or vertically to the current products? The easiest change to start with is to introduce cost control and operation optimisation associated with achieving the minimum efficient scale of the factory and then drives another change. Driving a major change at once would again be resisted.Mainly the production department would be affected, other departments too, such as financial and management accounting. The latters would be expected to drive the major package of cost control through supply chain optimization. Introducing operations management department would also help enhancing the operations of the whole company and helping the company to slim the inefficient operations in all departments. It would be expected that some side effects such as excess expenses would follow as sort of rewards to the contributors in the change process to a dvertise the participation. Also, production lag would occur until the change process is finalized, that could be ascribable to shop floor adjustments or personnel getting accustomed to the new change in the production process, hence, it would be a good idea if the company could produce some reserve capacity to cover this aspect.BibliographyBassett-Jones, N., & Lloyed, G. Globalization: What It Is and How Can We Improve for the Better Essay

You tush interpret globalisation in any way you want because it is not a countersignature but a way of living, be it bad or good. Where did the confines globalisation come from and what does it mean for consumers, corporate f make believeories, and workers? How did it affect their lives? Despite solely of its different sides, globalization is a good issue but to a certain extent. globalization is in our world now and we should focalize on what we should do to regulate globalization to where we be progressing as a strong and not returning to the dark ages. In order to answer these questions we mustiness ask ourselves what does globalization mean? The dictionary definition of globalization is the act of globalizing, or extending to different or either parts of the world. According to Charles Tilly, globalization direction an annex in the geographic range of locally of import social int successionctions, especially when that increase stretches a signifi green goddesst pro portion of all interactions across international or intercontinental limits (qtd. in Kesselman 2). It to a fault means it is a worldwide integration and development of countries for the benefit of the world.Economic globalization is a little different. According to the dictionary, economic globalization refers to increasing interdependence of and national economies across the world through a rapid increase in inter-border movement of goods, service, engine room, and capital. veritable(a) though we hear ab expose globalization a lot recently, the term is not new. People allow been selling and trading with different nations for thousands of years before the Great contend (World War I) broke out putting it on hold. In fact, globalization has been approximately for several(prenominal) centuries now. It has just been a pattern ever since man freshman trade ind. A new era of globalization started and has continued since the 1980s (Kesselman 4). more believe globalization to be spread by westerners. Since the new era of trade, the west did get down a large part in influencing globalization, many of which were manufactured automobiles or textiles. Globalization is often seen as global westernization (Sen 28).Even though globalization is most comm nevertheless viewed as such, it is not all an invention of westerners. There has also been a large influence from the easterners too. Globalization can be a good thing. One good effort why globalization is good is because of international trade. Trade has increase and return has increased. Goods and products have been traded internationally around the world. We get bananas, sneakers, and clothes from other countries. When we trade internationally, it helps both sides of the trade. One commonwealth gets the profit to help its country out and the other gets its product. The bottom line then is thattrade is beneficial (Wolf 76). An mannequin of trade that is beneficialOf the countries of the world, those in Eas t Asia have grown the debased-breaking and done most to reduce poverty. And they have done so, emphatically, via globalization. Their growth has been establish on exportsby taking advantage of the global market for exports and by closing the technology gap. It was not just gaps in capital and other resources that separated the developed from the less-developed countries, but difference in acquaintance. East Asiatic countries took advantage of the globalization of knowledge to reduce these disparities. (Stiglitz 87)Another reason why globalization can be a good thing is knowledge and communications. Without the invention of telephone, it was hard to communicate with one another in the unite States. Before phones or telegrams, there were carrier pigeons, letters by mail, or person-to-person conversations. Now almost everywhere around the world has some sort of communication cell phones, internet, video chats, blogs, etc. The internet is also a means to free in seduceation.Of cour se, there are plenty of veto impacts of globalization. The spreading of information and the spreading of factories causing severe side set up that could cause destruction throughout the world and already has. As your country puts on the Golden Straitjacket, two things tend to happened your economy grows and your political science shrinks (Friedman 61). In other words, once a country plays into the global economy they have to make huge sacrifices. Globalization is driven by investments, trades, and information. With this rapid form of sharing, it has major effects on the environment and cultures along with the people. Some of them are even harsh. Flames and smoke swept the cramped textile factory in Baldia Town, a northwestern industrial suburb, creating panic among the hundreds of poorly paid workers who had been devising undergarments and plastic toolsalmost killing ccc workers (ur-Rehman, Walsh, and Masood 2012). This is one of the many reasons of the minus impacts of globaliz ation. With globalization many corporations only if care about production and how fast they can produce it. Many of the factories, the like the one in Baldia, had no safety regulations because the factory wanted more production and more money. instead of using that money to get better safety for the factory, almost 300 people died that day.I believe that globalization is a good with regulations in place. There will need to be a lot of rules and regulations of globalizations like safety and health. I believe in free information and knowledge. It should be free in order for us to go and become a better people. Without these rules, things like Baldia happen. Globalization plays a big part in our lives today. Even if we tried, we would not be able to stop globalization. We can only regulate it. With globalization we can move towards a more peaceful future where we can understand each other. To improve safety and have regulations is a way to improve globalization. This will make it a building block lot better. If the factory in Baldia had better safety regulations and pay, then the outcome of the burning would have been different. There would be 300 people active today.Despite all of its different sides, globalization is a good thing only when it is kept regulated. Globalization is in our world now and we should focus on what we should do to regulate globalization to where we are progressing as a whole and not going backwards. With all of the bad and the good, only we can make the difference however small that change may be it is still a difference for the better. Actions that will help others are the only way to go and understand one another more. With all of our technology and knowledge, we can solve many of the worlds problems if we just were not so greedy. With globalization, we can change the world hopefully for the better.Works CitedFriedman, Thomas L. The Lexus and the Olive Tree. The political relation of globalization a reader. Mark Kesselman. Why I do it

It was a freezing icy sunrise in Farnham. I horizon to myself Why am I let step antecedent of bed at this epoch on a Saturday dawn? My question was answered merely two minutes afterward as I managed the trick which I have been trying for the last week, a topside rejoicing day.Nice man, handsome, was the call from the workbench as I looked everyplace at my friend detect who was giving me the thumbs-up as I came swiftly out of the trick.I glided oer to the bench lazily and took a seat nigh to Sam, Mark and Henri. What time is the comp tomorrow? I asked them.Nine am smart and early, replied Sam whilst getting up to skate over to the grindbox and attempt new(prenominal) amazing trick.I know I need practice for the contention nevertheless skating at eight oclock on a Saturday morning in the freezing frigidity is a bit too some(prenominal), I moaned as I rank on a nonher jumper. You wanna go street for a bit? asked Mark as he took take out his skate and started fidd ling with the laces.Where are we gonna go? The sixth form college is too far, were not allowed in Lidls and Redgrave rail is still wet from that rain during the wickedness, I complained. As I state this I was mostly thinking of my breadbasket, as I hadnt any eat yet. You fancy spill to Wimpy?Im still banned, said Sam close proudly as he glided punt to the bench having and make a perfect topsoul.Henri was being strangely silence and he suddenly stood up, picked up his bag and said well you shadower wait outside accordingly.Mark stood up sharply as want as I can get some hot pabulum Im not bothered where it is.On the way to Wimpy I panorama constantly of the upcoming tilt that was getting ever closer. As I imagined what it would be like to have about thirty or xl people stare at me for ten minutes butterflies suddenly came to my stomach and made me feel nervous and uncomfortable. I gripped my bag a junior-grade tighter with my freezing fingers and wished I had had the sense to bring the gloves I bought the day before. As I entered Wimpy I could feel the warmth of the deep-fat fryers and hear the component parts of the Turkish men who worked there. We took a seat in the smoking section and looked at the menu.Man I hate being able to see pictures of the solid food on the menu. It just actualises it look pathetic when it arrives because it never looks the same, said Mark miserably.Just decide what you want and order Im starving, I told him as I had already decided on a large Wimpy die outfast consisting of sausage, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, beans and toast. Can you add a toasted teacake to that? I asked the host as I gave my order.I wolfed ware the breakfast, even though I dont like tomatoes, and lit a cigarette. Is anyone else nervous about the competition tomorrow? I asked trying to hide the fact that I still had butterflies in my stomach despite having finished my breakfast. No its not big pick out just think of it as another game of IYMTA. Its entirely genuinely us, Ben, Carl and James that are entering anyway so theres not a lot of competition. As Mark said this he was lazily whiff on a cigarette and leaning fanny on his chair.IMYTA is a game that we play where we skate against each other. It stands for I Match Your delusion Association. It is an annual competition involving professional skaters from around the world where one soul does a trick and then everyone else has to do the same trick or they are given a letter. When you have all five garner you are out of the game. We played this regularly and hearing Mark put it like that I felt more relaxed about the competition.Yeah I guess, I replied as I leant back on my chair whole step relaxed for the first time since I heard about the competition. I m off home to get some sleep, I might come out later on, I said as I left the restaurant. I skated to the bus stop feeling good and made it just in time to catch the 940 bus. When I arrived home I went straight upstair s, undressed and fell into bed. I fell asleep almost instantly as I hadnt had any sleep the previous night and was still tired from school on Friday. I dreamt of the competition. It was a warm, brave day and it had just started.I smiled as I dropped in on the big ramp to go for my first big trick. I jumped, and as I was flying through the air I grabbed my feet and pulled them behind me then released them and arrive perfectly to go up the other ramp and do a perfect 540 degree spin. The bunch was cheering and the judges were going wild. I skated round the entire park and did a 900-degree spin on the biggest ramp. I was about 9 feet in the air and I leant forward too much. My front wheels hit the ramp and I landed on my face. It hurt so much. I heard an ambulance somewhere in the withdrawnness but it was distorted somehow. It sounded more and more like a border ringing.Ian. Ian wake up you have a phone callI woke with a start. My heart leapt. It was a dream I realized. I stood up and put on my dressing gown trying to tell myself it was just a dream and that that wouldnt happen. My stomach had butterflies again. I took the phone from my mum.Hello? I said groggily. What are you still doing in bed? The competition is half an hour away said Mark urgently. What? Its tomorrow stop intercommunicate around, I said as I checked my watch. 3Sun it said. Oh my God I thought. I slept right through.I will be there dont worry, I mumbled quickly and hung up. I ran upstairs, threw my clothes on and picked my bag up. I half-fell stilt the stairs in my haste and put my skates on. As I flew down the hill towards Farnham skatepark I had the feeling I had forgotten something important. It was as cold as the previous day but I had no time to be cold. I skated faster. I arrived at the skatepark five minutes later out of breath and threw my bag down.Where have you been? asked Sam.In bed, I answered quickly and I went straight to the biggest ramp and started warming up. I was skat ing preferably well, I managed to spin a 540 and land but then I tried to Truespin topside pornstar and my feet missed the right spot and before I knew what happened I was lying on the floor. I got straight back up and thought to myself this is not going to beat me.I skated hard for another 15 minutes before the announcer had finished setting up his equipment and announced that the competition was about to start. It was the BMXS category first so I had a twenty-minute break before I had to skate again. I rolled lazily over to the bench where my friends were sitting, sat down and lit a cigarette. Why do they have to have a BMXers competition anyway? asked Mark indignantly. Theres only five of them.Because it gives us something to laugh at, retorted Henri.I couldnt join in their jokes and laughter. I was too busy thinking about the trick I had been working(a) on for two weeks. A bio flip. To do it I had to do air of a front flip but instead of going over my head and landing forwards , I had to throw myself over my right shoulder joint and land back. I had only tried it twice and never landed it. None of the others knew I had been trying it or that I even think to attempt it.The BMX competition was cut short because of an injury and the announcer told all the rollerbladers to make their way to the ramps. I hastily threw my cigarette to the floor and skated up the ramp. As I stood at the top of the ramp I looked around at the people in the crowd. There were so many. You have 15 minutes, came the voice over the speaker. GoI jumped into the ramp and immediately went into a cardinal foot high mute grab over the funbox and neatly stalled on the other ramp. My heart jumped as I went back down the ramp backwards and did a 360 spin over the funbox. I was skating better than I had skated in a long time and I had a jiffy where my butterflies and doubts had gone and I was just confident. This was it. I dropped in on the smaller ramp and did a 180 spin over the funbox so I could go backwards into the trick. I could see a photographer in the front of the crowd aim his camera at me.I went up the ramp backwards and threw myself as hard as I could over my shoulder. For a second it was like time stood still. I had pulled my legs in so that I was like a ball in the air. I brought my legs back round so I could land near the bottom of the ramp. dead it felt like I was going to spin too much and land on my knees. But somehow I managed to lean back a tiny bit and land on my feet and roll away. The crowd were shouting and the photographer was going mad. I could hear the announcer shouting Hes done it, hes done it.Mark and the others had stopped skating to watch my bio flip but Mark had come over and shook my hand and said nice one.The others were standing with their mouths open as if they had never seen a bio flip before. Henri skated up to me and said I never thought you would do that.It suddenly occurred to me as the speakers told me that I had come firs t that this is why I do it.

Integrating basic skills Essay

representing and Social Studies The principle Graphing skills are in important tool for participating in boastful society. As such, they should be emphasized and integrated into the curriculum. Including a graphing exercise as part of a larger social studies unit is a inviolable way to reinforce math and interpretive skills. A graphing exercise gives the educatee an opportunity to demonstrate what has been learned in a yeasty way. Reproducing the schooling in graphical form also helps the pupils to listen the big picture. It helps them see how different elements relate, and it provides a visual representation of the in orderion that can be more easily remembered. As adults, the students pull up stakes find that graphs are not solely a mathematical element. Graphs are a way we leave concepts as well as data. Early integration of this skill into a childs education can only be beneficial. The utilisation Software and internet sites to assist graphing activities are plentifu l. For this exercise, the Create a Graph website (http//nces. ed. gov/nces/kids/graphing/) sponsored by the National Center for Education Statistics forget be used. The students reserve been studying the Plymouth Plantation. This lesson points out that the Pilgrims attained a new sense of freedom, further it was not without hardship. The graphing exercise is designed to reinforce this concept. Before the exercise begins the instructor allow for run through a brief graphing tutorial. To begin, the students leave behind from each one feel one of three different assignment sheets. They will afterward be divided into throngs based on which assignment they receive. The students in group one will receive a handout summarizing the information obtained in the part of the lesson called Step 2. Their task will be to construct a graph at the Create a Graph website comparing the speeds of unhomogeneous forms of transportation, present and past, including the Mayflower. A bar chart wil l be suggested. The students may discuss the project as a group, but each student must complete a chart. The second group will receive a handout summarizing the climatic data obtained in Step 3. They will construct a chart showing the average temperature highs and lows for each month of the year. An area chart will be suggested. The third group will receive a handout describing existence levels of colonists and natives in the area in the years 1620-1640.They will be asked to construct charts showing the population diffusion (men, women, Native Americans) in the years 1620 and 1640. Pie charts will be suggested. Copies of each graph will be printed for each student in the group. Fonts, colors and labels will be at the discretion of the students, but the students will be asked to bring through in mind that their chart must explain the data clearly to someone who might not already be familiar with it. aft(prenominal) everyone has completed a chart they will return to groups to discuss their results. The graphs in each group will not be identical, but they should be similar. Each group will then be asked an interpretive inquiry What is your graph ascertaining us? The answer should be one compose sentence. The idea is to present a very concise summary of the information, i. e. The population difference between men and women shrunk between 1620 and 1640. The teacher will bring one or two members of each croup to present their graph, describe the process of making it, and describe the meaning. To reinforce the experience, the students will be asked, as a class a series of follow up questions including the undermentioned Could we have used different types of graphs to present the data? Why or why not? Why do we use graphs? What do the graphs tell you about life on Plymouth? The graphing exercise will help students externalise the data. They can then draw their own conclusions about what the data means. They will gain exposure to the different types o f graphs and when it is appropriate to use each. It is also another(prenominal) chance to integrate interactive technology into the students learning experience. The group format will allow students to exchange ideas and develop for themselves a more creative learning experience. As with any group exercise, the job of the teacher is to assist interaction and full participation of the students. Music Concert Paper

Emily Scott Music Appreciation 28 Feburary 2013 double-u Michigan Concert Winds Concert On February 24th, I attended the watt Michigan Concert Winds Winner and Winds concert. West Michigan Concert Winds is a volunteer group that performs instrumental music to the community. This ensemble contains a gigantic range of musical talents from all different backgrounds. many members are college students, rough teachers. There was also many current or retired band directors unconnected of the ensemble. They performed all different genres of music from a Sousa march to an Irish combust by A.J. Potter. There was also a scholarship acceptance operation by a local high school junior who was awe-inspiring at the clarinet. The first song was titled Fanfare for Saint Cecilia. This go was composed for Saint Cecilia on a special occasion called ternion Countries Day. This is an example like we talked closely in class where a composer had a job of composing music for a certain event beca use record music wasnt available at that time. The song had a splendiferous and triumphant feel to it with many brass heavy parts specifically trumpet.Woodwinds played the accompaniment underneath but were not heard exclusively. Some parts I liked about this establish was the overall passion that it had and the energy that the ensemble put into it. It was very easy to tell that the instrumentalists enjoyed play the song. Polka and Fugue from the Opera Schwanda, The Bag Piper was another second I found fascinating. It was a Chek Folk tale which told the story about the lonely bag piper and his adventures. It started out with the woodwinds playing the theme of a cheery thrill note and triplet. The feel of the music was cheery and you were closely able to hear the story being told. I also enjoyed tryout the Fugue part of the song because that was also something we discussed in class. The fugue was characterized by imitation and variation on the imitation by different sections e nd-to-end the band. The band also played a Sousa but surprisingly this piece was not a march but a waltz. Although this song was characterized as a waltz, I felt like it had the elements of a march in it like clearly defined beats and ascending and descending affluent ensemble runs. The music was very bouncy and you could almost picture the dancers waltzing on stage. I was very impressed with the brass section because of their strong smack and intensity. I throughly enjoyed my experience of listening to The West Michigan Concert winds. I was impressed with the talent of the ensemble and the professional way they looked on stage. They provided a wide variety of music compositions and kept me entertained throughout the concert.

Advancement in computer graphics

Since the dawn decimal forecast of moving picture picturals, fine art climbers had to depend on grapple go withledge of the ironware they were working with. This knowledge came from lots of experimentation and electronics know-how. (Rickitt, Richard. 2000.)Games, such as niff or Asteroids, graphic designers had to nourish a good knowledge of what any chip on the support motherboard could provide them. They were required to be fully aware of the amount of memory they might require like color and sounds etc. some times they had to get through with the manufacturers to get assist in designing chips that cater to their requirement.Sound and graphics were primitive at best, notwithstanding they worked. Since these early zippys were in fact a pi whizzering attempt, they also had to generate clean user controls to work with. (Ritter, R. (2002)Early commonwealth games were dependent on knowledge of shape and accumulation quarrels to enter the OSs lower levels. With the passage of time, more than than intelligible languages were introduces, such as BASIC and LOGO though, they didnt have the electromotive force of assembly language.Next innovation in language world was Pascal and C. With C, game breakers could design advanced code routines devoid of having to work with tons of assembly code, therefore making graphics easier. Very soon C language became the preferred language of graphic designers. (Timo Aila, 2003)With these language changes, one difficulty remained. To develop high-quality games, developers motionlessness required a thorough knowledge of the computer computer hardware they were run with. There was no need to know perpetuallyy chips capabilities, however they had to know things such as video cards, sound cards, and input devices. They also had to neck with memory constraints, which were turning out to be a hindrance to graphic designs.Along Came WindowsAdvancement in computer operate brass it moody out to be very escaped to maintain specific standards in the computer industry. These standards consisted hardware interfaces, video memory standards, sound standards, and CPU memory specifications. Yet, there was still a lot of conflict within the industry, and lots of hardware turned out to be unsatisfactory. Consequently, numerous games developed in Windows faced a lot of problems.Microsoft understood this problem early on and emphasized its efforts on improving its environment and working to improve performance for the parts of the operating system that cater to game and multimedia requirements. These efforts were obvious in Windows 95, one of the first operating systems that produced reliable hardware-software interaction a reality. Since all hardware companies had to meet a comparable standard and Microsoft controlled how its operating system responded to the hardware. In the DOS days, you had to build your own drivers for every(prenominal) type of video card, but with Windows, you had to develop to only one standard. In spite of spending time producing and apprehensiveness numerous hardware specifications, designers relied on Microsoft to do all that for them and wrap up it for their use in the OS.There was one flaw with all of this. Windows was initially designed for homes and offices not for professional multimedia development. It lacked little necessary items that had become tag in the multimedia market mostly graphics speed, DOS was go then windows. It was the same hardware, but there were many more layers amongst the developers code and the hardware they wanted to control. The effect was that a lot of developers desolate the idea of Windows game development and depended on the Windows capability to disburse to DOS.After Microsoft record that game developers agreed with its idea but reluctant to give up the performance they had become used to in DOS, Microsoft started exploring ways to facilitate developers to extend to that hardware layer. Some of the initial attemp ts involved WinG, WinToon, and OpenGL.Wings become popular at the time of Windows 3.1 and Windows for WorkGroups. WinG was the first try at a complete graphics API (Application Programming Interface) library to eradicate the limitations of the Windows API.WinG rendered high-performance graphics system that could be accessed through Windows game development world to that community who worked in all in DOS.WinToon worked as first API system for Windows 95 that supplied the potential of easy animation play sustain. API also provided better performance as compared to existing Windows 95 APIs. Thus it aided to improve the multimedia playback capabilities of animation programs for instance kids games and educational programs.OpenGL is a powerful set of APIs that let the developers to cut through the Windows red tape to integrate some of the hardware procedures of 2D and 3D graphics. Unexpectedly, OpenGL was not the product of Microsoft instead it was introduced by Silicon Graphics, Inc.T hese technological advancements were an extensive boost, but eventually turn out to be short. As the game market boosted and the requirement for more games on the Windows 95 platform rose, Microsoft developers went back to work. What they came up with was the Windows 95 Game Software Developers Kit (SDK), which introduced the first reading material of DirectX. DirectX was actually restricted for the computer game industry but has evolved to acquire other areas, for instance, improvement in the arcade business and handheld Windows CE devices. As DirectX has improved, Microsoft rendered network support, in addiction with force feedback support, and 3D graphics capabilities. When ever improvements are required, the DirectX team has gone on to improve the performance of this astounding software library. (John Owens. 1983.)Video graphics games fueling hardware growth and hardware in turn fueling games will continue on. Thus the future of video games will most likely be tied to the futu re of graphics hardware and tactile hardware. With the introduction of the DirectX 8.0 API and same type functionality in OpenGL, GPUs change magnitude programmable shading to their functions. The entire pixel could now be achieved by a short program that could involve additional image textures as inputs, and every geometric vertex could similarly be processed by a short program before it was shown on the screen. nVidia introduced chip capable of programmable shading, the GeForce 3 (widely known as NV20).By October 2002, with the introduction of the ATI Radeon 9700 (also known as R300), the worlds first Direct3D 9.0 accelerator, pixel and vertex shades could implement looping and lengthy floating point math, and in general were soon becoming as flexible as CPUs, and orders of magnitude faster for image-array operations. (Dan McCabe 1998)Nowadays, parallel Graphics Processing Unit have started computable graphic inroads against the operating system, and a subfield of study, dubbed G PGPU for General Purpose cipher on GPU has paved its way into areas as diverse as anoint exploration, scientific image processing, and even stock options pricing determination. There is increased compact on GPU manufacturers to update hardware design, generally emphasizing on adding more flexibility to the programming modelBibliographyBartle, Richard A, 2003,Designing Virtual Worlds , 1st Edition, New Riders Dan McCabe and John Brothers. Life of Pi: the Good Kind of Lie

Sometimes a duplicity is better than the the true. instanter Im non saying that you should lie to your parents about the dinero on their car or lie to your friends about copting booming with that girl last weekend, but every so often a situation comes along in which a sm each fabrication give better warrant the situation. In the novel Life of Pi, the author Yann Martel tells a fantastic floor about a young boy at sea, trapped on a lifeboat with a 450lb Bengal tiger.During their journey, the unlikely casta representations face an heroic poem adventure of survival crossing paths with such char cultivateers as a homicidal hyena, a motherly orangutan, a dead on arrival zebra, and a French blind tail assemblynibal. In the end the two dumbfound psychiatric hospital after 227 days upon their arrival to the coast of Mexico. Now I be intimate what youre echoing. This sounds pretty unbelievable. Well youre right to think so, but the verity in this case, is something youre bette r off not knowing. The end of the novel brings about the knowledge that the animals in the composition were in fact people and their grim deaths, including that of his mother, Pi had witnessed. Given the setting, this shouldnt be seen as a lie, but rather as grade telling. The act of horizontal surface telling is a considerable thing. It can drum up adventure in the heart of the audience, make you feel a great deal of emotion for someone youve never met or isnt dismantle legitimate, but to some it is a way to cope with an occurrence in which the truth is too terrible to deal with.Weve always been taught never to lie and therefore it is an act that is seen as wrong be any means, however, disposed the right circumstances telling a lie, whether it be to yourself or to others, is the outgo possible way to avoid a traumatic experience of the past. end-to-end the business relationship Pi tells the more enjoyable version of his story, though the acknowledgment of this does not oc cur to the reader until the end of the novel. Through retrospection it is regardon to see the fiction and the significance it holds. To the best of my knowledge the first smash of the story appears to all be true, however, in this segment Pi does find way to state his distaste for those who only wish to believe what can be proven true and logical. The best example can be found in chapter 22 in its entirety. Being a self-colored believer in God, so much so that he embraces tercet of His religions, it is surprising that Pi can easily accept the choices of Atheists, but stigmatize those who are agnostic (those who dont know who to side on the subject).Chapter 22 reads, I can well imagine an atheists last dustup , White, white L-L-Love My God and the deathbed leap of faith. Whereas the agnostic, if he stays true to his conjectural self, if he stays beholden to change, yeastless factuality, might movement to explain the cranky light bathing him by saying, possibly a f-f-failing oxygenation of the b-b-brain, and, to the very end, lose imagination and miss the better story. (Martel 80) Pi describes factuality as dry and yeastless, further strengthening the readers understanding of how he feels about logical facts. The bit part of this quote that is significant is his use of the phrase the better story. Showing that what isnt real is often the better. With the end of blow up One of the novel comes then end of whats real and transitions into fiction. Since the bite part of the story is a fabrication in its entirety, it seems redundant to try to state the many times when fiction trumps over the truth. Instead, it seems that the better composition would be to pinpoint the section where Pi is driven to admit the truth behind his adventure at sea. The best examples of the fact vs. fiction bow come after a lengthy interrogation on Pi by Two Japanese men who represent the company who own the freighter which was transporting Pi and his family across the ocean.A fter being asked the true character of his story one too many times Pi ultimately broke the ice with the simple question, So you want another story? (380) This was then followed by the significant statement, The world isnt just the way it is. It is how we understand it, no? And in understanding something, we bring something to it, no? Doesnt that make life a story? through examination of this chit-chat it is found that he means that life is just a story told by the storyteller.Pi is saying that he willing to tell the to representatives the real story, but in knowing the real story they are absent out on the previously discussed better story. He brings this up further with the quote, I know what you want. You want a story that wont surprise you. That will confirm what you already know. That wont make you see higher or further or differently. You want a flat story. An immobile story. You want dry, yeastless factuality. (381) Its obvious that Pi is warning the two men once more tha t the truth isnt always what you want to hear and also further representing the theme of truth vs. iction. Though this novel is filled with different themes, and many of those who read it reverberate on which is the main theme. I believe that the theme of the importance of story telling is without a doubt, Yann Martels main point that he tries to get across to the reader. He makes it evident in all parts of the story and the twist at the end is based on the subject. In all it is important to remember that lying is bad, but sometimes the truth is too. Storytelling is a healthy medium between the two and can even answer to cope with the most traumatic of experiences.

Benign Prostate Hyperplasia

The prostatic gland gland is an exocrine gland appoint only in the male. Exocrine glands secrete chemicals to the right(prenominal) of the body. It is a glandular organ and is found just below the bladder and at the top of the penis. It is normally close the sizing of a walnut and it surrounds the urethra which is the tube that brings piddle from the bladder to the out spot of the body. It is made of fibrous tissue and some muscle tissue. Anatomy The gland is divided into zones or lobes. The peripheral zone is the outside part of the prostate and this is where most prostate cancers are found. The central zone makes up nearly 25% of the gland and the transition zone makes up about 5% of the gland. The transition zone, however, is where are the hypertrophy happens. This part of the prostate is closest to the urethra so as it grows it puts imperativeness on and squeezes the urethra bowel movement problems with urination. However, in benign prostate hyperplasia, the prostate gro ws and begins to cause the person problems. It is normally an age related sickness which is nonmalignant. Large lesions grow on that central section of the prostate. It is believed that 60% of manpower over the age of 60 have BPH (Porth & Matfin, 2007). The film cause is unknown plainly in that location are some encounter factors which include age, history, race, dietary fat, and hormonal factors. The older one gets, the more than plausibly to have it and African American men get it most lots. When new the gland grows with the hormones testosterone and dihydrotestosterone and it is believed that in some men the hormones do not sluggish down and stop when they should so the gland continues to grow past what would be normal. Signs and SymptomsBPH causes compression on the urethra so it causes partial or complete baulk of urine flow. As the obstruction increases (prostate gets larger), acute or emergent storage of the urine may occur with distention of the bladder. Th e urine that is left in the bladder when a man tries to urinate and is not able to fatuous his bladder causes a frequency to occur, consistently trying to empty the bladder. This normally becomes worse at night. When there is a lot of bladder distention accidents may happen every date pressure is put on the abdomen or when coughing causing pressure inside the abdomen. When urine is not completely emptied from the bladder the chances of a urinary infection occurs and this some beats happens frequently. All of this develops in stages over time so there is often changes in the kidney and ureters because of the long time back up of urine causing hydronephosis which eventually begins to kill kidney gomeruli. If not treated early this can lead to renal failure. Diagnosis When making a diagnosis of BPH septette questions are at first ask. These questions are regarding incomplete emptying, frequency, intermittency, urgency, weak stream, straining, and nocturia.A last question relates to the quality of life the patient is having related to this problem. A history, visible exam and rectal exam is through with(p). Also to be done are uranalysis, PSA, and serum creatinine as well as other blood tests. The urinalysis is done to detect bacteria or infection, the serum creatinine is used to fancy whether there is renal function problems and the PSA is used to screen for cancer. Our diligent JJ has BPH and he has symptoms of frequent or urgent need to urinate, he besides has developed cysts in his urine and a urinary nerve tract infection. All of these symptoms make sense because they are symptoms of the enlarged prostate putting pressure on the urethra. The urinary tract infection has occurred because of the retention of urine in the bladder. His preaching plan is medications and TURP or TIP. Treatment Treatment in the early stages is aimed at symptom relief, then there is a time of watchful waiting which is suggested by most physicians. thither are before long me dications that work pretty well for some time. These are Finasteride which reduces prostate size by blocking the effect of androgens on the prostate. This drug also cause atrophy of the prostate cells which can cause a 20% reduction in volume. The onset of the drug takes some time, sometimes 3-6 months but it usually works for some time. The side effects may be upright dysfunction and decreased libido. There can also be the functional removal of the enlarged prostate gland. This surgery can be done through the urethra, through a suprapubic incision, or through an incision in the peritoneum. The most commonly used way is called a TURP which is transurethral prostatectomy or through the urethra. The prostate is a very vascular organ and though this procedure is fairly simple to do, there is a great tell apart of bleeding on average and irrigations are often necessary post-operatively. There are presently many experimental treatments that it is hoped will provide slight side effect s. These include laser surgery, transurethral vaporization, transurethral microwave therapy, and transurethral needle ablation. There is also a new technique using balloon dilation but these effects at this time seem to be transitory. Stents can also be placed in those men that have major aggregate of lung issues and cannot tolerate surgical procedures.Treatment Plan So, JJ had symptoms of BPH which was treated by medication but his symptoms persisted and he had a TURP. This procedure after recovery projecting his symptoms and he is progressing quite an well with most of his symptomology gone at this time. mop up BPH which is thought of as a cancerous condition of the prostate is a benign condition of the prostate. The symptoms which it causes are usually the method of treatment in the beginning and this may last for some time, but there may be a later need for a more aggressive method of treatment which at this time is the TURP.There are side effects of this surgery, some of th em immediate because of the vascular condition of the prostate. This surgery, at this time usually solves the problem long term. There are many more less invasive procedures being studied at this time. Our patient JJ is doing quite well after a TURP and will most apt(predicate) not need a further procedure. It does not relieve him however, of the first step of prostate cancer because that part of the prostate is still there so he will need to continue to have checkups. References Porth,C and Matfin, G. Liberal education Essay

According to Perry, the aim of a liberal education is for one to brighten the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed and reasonable decisions. Any opposite consequences should be treated as merely incidental. He explains that the first message to this end is through the simple gaining of knowledge by memorization of genuine key accompaniments, such as the periodic table. This is often necessary, and should not be avoided, but too often it is seen as synonymous with learning. In his essay, Examsmanship and the wide Arts A Study in Educational Epistemology, William G. Perry, Jr. uses the full terminal cow to describe writing on the assumption that a fact is a fact. presenting evidence of hard work as a ease for understanding while using the somewhat more traditional term bull to mean deception as to the presence of actual data.I definitely agree with Perrys opinion on what education should foster, the figure of education is to enable students to learn for themselves , not to spoon-feed them every fact they leave ever need in their lives. Current day teachers have a huge influence on how education is nurtured. I believe that the job nowadays is that many teachers feel a need to have students submit to the aforementioned(prenominal) thinking bear upon as them, and to arrive at the same conclusion in the same way. Many teachers have made students detest reading because when asked about a certain aspect of the book, the teachers never real compulsioned to hear your thoughts but rather, what they thought it was.Because of this, one finds many students missing the ability to think for themselves. The students get in the mindset of what would the teacher want me to say. The cows are unable to look beneath the spare facts in order to understand why something has taken place. Not only do they lack imagination, they lack the ability to truly think. Therefore, one would be robbing himself of his education and soul. Unfortunately, this approach to learning is held by many, both students and teachers. Education should throw out students to learn how to make connections between facts, and give them the ability to use this process throughout life.

Poetics in 330 BC. Shakespeare

Plays have been written ever since Aristotle discussed the origin and function of theatre of operations in his famous treatise Poetics in 330 BC. Shakespeare, W ailingiam the supreme English poet and playwright, recognized in much of the world as the greatest of every last(predicate) dramatists. He was as well as the first person to have a script for his plays, macbeth is thought to be the first, written in 1606 and published in 1623. As the play unfolds, Macbeths dream causes him to change his nature towards evil.At the beginning of the play, Macbeth was portrayed as a fearless soldier who fought for his King without mercy. But once the witches deep-seated the seeds of greater things and bird Macbeth fuel guide his pauperization, which lead him to run low greedy and mogul hungry. What is pipe dream? Ambition is exposit as e maturater for success, power or fame. For Macbeth. Ambition was what drove him to run low great, it suckd him to change his nature towards evil. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth was portrayed as a courageous soldier who fought for his King without mercy. But once the witches thinkted the seeds of greater things and Lady Macbeth fuelled his ambition, which lead him to become greedy and power hungry.Macbeth was led d cause to an unescapable road of doom by an outside force, namely caboodle in the form of the three witches. There was no supernatural force wor force against Macbeth, which therefore makes him responsible for(p) for his take a leak crookions and inevitable d possessfall. Macbeth is indeed responsible for his own actions, which are provoked by an unwillingness to listen to his own conscience, the witches, and his ambition. The witches tempted Macbeth with their prophecies, which made Macbeths heart and mind slowly filled with ambition and his huger for power. The witches predicted, at the beginning of the play, that Macbeth would soon become the Thane of Cawdor and eventually the outright King. They identi fy Macbeth this, simply to ignite what would finally oddment up creation a burning desire for success.Lady Macbeth then help Macbeth by inserting ill thoughts into his mind, and provided suggestions as to how to become King. At first, Macbeth rejects the horror in his mind tho eventually he succumbs to evil for his ambition is far too great. The install of the witches on the action of the play can be summarised by these rowing while the influences of the Witches prophecies on Macbeth was very great, but it was quite clearly shown that it was lone(prenominal) an influence and nothing more (from a book called Macbeth Analyse). What I want to say was that Macbeth was just morally paleer than other normal human beings such(prenominal) as Banquo, who have very little ambition, Macbeth should been more responsible for his own actions and not blaming his downfall on the witches and his wife. Thanks to Lady Macbeth who acts as a ruthless, overpowering woman who dominates her husband a nd his actions. She makes Macbeths decisions for him without giving him any say in his own actions, and she orders her husband to do what she determines to be best for him. It was Lady Macbeth who contrives the plan to down King Duncan, because she k presentlys that Macbeth would never redact such an act on his own without her prodding. At this present stage, Macbeth still has a conscience and he was very hesitant about killing the King but his weak nature over powers his conscience. Throughout the entire play Macbeth had by many visual sensation due to his guilt. Like seen the vision of the dagger, the ghost of Banquo, his vivid imagination and his constant worries also provokes him, this showed that he still has a conscience. This was also straightforward in his terrible dreams, which gives the solid theme that he has indeed kill relief.Macbeths personnel ambition and his insatiable lust for power drives him to his downfall. Although Macbeths ambition was not in itself evil. Macbeths new knowledge, which he obtained from the witches, makes him uncomfortable, as he pass waters the implications. His first thoughts considering murdering Duncan appeared, and he was scared. But his ambition, his desire for power over comes his fear, for him to enlist the murder. After he commits the murder, Macbeth Say, The voice cried sleep no more to all the house Glamis hath murdered sleep, and therefore Cawdor shall sleep no more Macbeth shall sleep no more. Knowing that has committed such a vile act makes him uncomfortable. It will be difficult to act innocent and to deal with his guilt. provided when he reaches the kingship, his ambition grow like never before, with his new put power, Macbeth begins to gain strength which he never before possessed. He starts to attain charge of his own actions, and Lady Macbeth flake outs control of him. He no daylong needs her to make his decisions for him. This becomes evident, as he planned the murder of Banquo and chartered t he murderers himself without consulting his wife at all. In fact, Lady Macbeth urges him to forget what has happened in the bypast and move on.Macbeth, however, with his new sense of control, refuses to submit to her command. He goes on with his plans to kill Banquo because he was the only one that know about witchs prophecies other than himself and his wife, he was also scared that his later generations will become king at the same way that he become king (murdering Duncan). He later decides to kill Macduffs family as well, because he had decide from now oh hell act whatever his heart told him to. Lady Macbeth was no daylong involved in the decisions of Macbeths life, decisions over which she formerly exercised total control. She was left skunk with no part in his life, as Macbeth heads off with new plans of his own.Towards the end of the play when Lady Macbeth went insane and kills herself but still unable to reassign the damned spot When she died, Macbeth shows some good whic h may have been. He wishes for a normal life for which he would have lived to an honourable age but he realised that cant be done. however when Macbeth hears that the prophecy has become true of Birnam Wood coming to Dunsinane, he rejects this approximation and fights on until he realised that Macduff wasnt born in a natural birth but instead was Untimely ripped from his mothers womb. When Macbeth hears of this he realises what he has done and how the witches tricked him, he was absorbed in his own ambition and can not pull out of it. He realise it was too late so he fights on only to be slain by Macduff.Macbeth was a virtuous man, corrupted by power and greed. His ambitions led him to treason, murder and brutal killings by ordering the deaths of individuals, including his friends. The witches, to some achievement are responsible for these temptations, as they had the power to provide temptation and to induce wrongful doings. His ambition grew within his head until his thirst for power caused him to lose it all to the blade of Macduffs swordIt is my opinion Macbeth is by no means but a butcher. Unfortunately his great ambition undone him and his relationship between his wife, friends (Banquo) and King Duncan. He was simply tempted by the witches to commit these acts with the only motive being personal glory and achievements. Usually, when not being manipulated, Macbeth was a good, loyal and courageous man, who was held by others of the community, in high esteem.

Correctional System and the Rehabilitating Offenders

The punitory governing body has a mien of punishing wrongdoers in this country conflicting in different countries where you magnate withdraw a harsher penalization for a crime that might seem more, petty and a lesser punishment for a crime that one would consider more of a harsher crime. In our system however not only be you innocent until be guilty but you ar in addition allowed to consume a tribulation that can prove otherwise. The system might not constantly bestow taboo how we want it to, or expect it to but it is definitely a fair way of release about it.Offenders in this country embark on punished on the basis of how horrible the prosecutors hypothecate that your crime was and they be the ones that for the about part dictate the straining of punishment you exit receive. at one time in this process the family may also have a scan that is considered in all of this, wherefore a jury listens to a rivulet and decide for themselves the extremity of the crim e and what the punishment should be. There are also different take aims of correctional facilities that you can wind up in you have the local, state, federal levels. The local level is for more of your petty crimes such as DUI, shop lifting, etc. The state level is for felony level offenders and the federal level is for big time and repeat offenders for crimes like bank robbery and arson. In close to courtships I personally think that some of the punishments could be a little harsher, it seems like a curing of these offenders get off a little easier than they should. There are definitely times though where someone does get screwed and they get a harsh punishment for something that shouldve been a case of self defense or some other form of defense. For the most part I think that if you believe in our system that it really really can work to your benefit. If you are in the right than the legal age of the time it will prove that. If you are in the wrong than it will eventually pro ve that as well. Our corrections system tries to rehabilitate offenders by several different means you have imprisonment which most of the in force(p) crimes or repeat offenders get this. The length of imprisonment is decided by a judge and the length of the sentence is decided by the nature of the crime. There is also supervised probation. Which only about twenty-five pct of offenders are sentenced to some form of probation. This punishment means that you are to a lower place specific rules by a judge to be under school supervision while maintain a somewhat normal lifestyle. The offender is also assigned to a probation officer where they required to meet with, to set up sure that they are maintaining the standards set forth by the judge. Any infringement of the rules and guidelines may send the offender stick out to jail without a succor chance of probation. The next form of rehabilitation is house arrest, which allows you to live in your own house without going to prison but it enables the jurisprudence to catch that you are in your house because they administer an electronic bracelet that you must wear around your ankle until the completion of you r sentence. With the electronic bracelet you are only able to go a certain infinite away from the box that they put inside your house which links to the police system.Parole, which is the smallest of the rehabilitation system and is very similar to probation where if you dont bring home the bacon the exact guidelines set forth by the judge and the court system then you are going to end up back in jail. One of the best ways that we can help offenders rehabilitate is by severe counseling. If we can send these offenders through extreme physciatric counseling and get them to let someone know why they are the way they are I think that could make a huge difference.Another way of helping offenders to rehabilitate is by letting them further their reproduction, a weed of these offenders probably dont have a g reat education at all and if we let them continue with higher learning then maybe it well give them a better sense of belong to society or a sense of right and wrong. From there they might be able to help in programs that talk to other quite a little such as youth or other offenders and help them to tidy up their lives out.Although both punishment and rehabilitation can be effective in reducing crime, I think that punishment is the more effective pass in reducing crime, and the reason I say this is because rehabilitating isnt always going to work with certain offenders and then you have just squander even more money by not only admit them but also treating them. I am a firm believer that if we had harsher punishments for things in this country than we would have less offenders. If we started handing out the death penalization a little more, and when we did if we didnt let offenders sit in a cell for ten years before they got executed then I think more people would see that we were making an example out of these offenders and they would be more likely to do it. I also think that if we brought back some of the punishments they used in the older days, that they say are cruel and unusual that we wouldnt have as big of a problem.I think that if we stoned people, or cut off a limb when they commit a crime of greater statute than some of these people would wake up and see that this is not a form of punishment that they would like. If we glide by giving offenders three meals a day and we keep giving them a place to sleep they are not going to care and they are not going to stop committing crimes. If we go back to the days of the chain gang and put offenders on the side of the thoroughfare to clean up trash. What I have been saying all along is that we need to send them through a certain training human body and then send them overseas to mesh for our country. Obviously what they want is to fight and hurt people so let them do it where it needs to be done and t hat is on the battlefield. If we did that I think that there is a lot of these hardened criminals that would curl up in the fetal position and parole for their moms.
