MILES DAVIS Analysis Essay Example For Students

MILES DAVIS Analysis Essay MILES DAVISThis is my report on Miles Davis that I have composed for band class. At the point when I originally began I didnt even understand who Miles Davis was. Be that as it may, for as far back as week I have been dealing with this report I have started to understand the astonishing life that this celebrated performer has lived. So I trust you learn as much as I did on this awesome trumpeter. Indeed, even before all else he was at that point miles ahead. Its apparent that Miles knew and lived by that familiar adage on the off chance that its named, at that point its old fashioned. Miles Dewey Davis was conceived May 25, 1926 in Alton, Illinois and experienced childhood in East St. Louis. Miles gathered records and for his thirteenth birthday celebration was given his first trumpet. By age 16, Miles was playing expertly and gotten his first genuine taste of what playing jazz resembled when Billy Eckstines band was making a trip through and expected to supplant a wiped out horn player. Around then, the band utilized Diz and Bird and for about fourteen days Miles splashed it up!Undoubtedly, the fire had been lighted. After secondary school, Miles was set for study music and took a crack at Juilliard in September 1944. Rehearsing his butt off each day and taking care of his brain each night Miles sound was coming to fruition. As a sideman, Miles recorded his first account in New York with vocalist Rubberleggs Williams and later recorded Now,s The Time Ko-Ko in Parkers quintet. Miles Davis was referred to the overall population principally as a trumpet player. Be that as it may, in the realm of music he had a lot of impact as an imaginative bandleader as well as a writer. His music and style was significant in the advancement of improvisational methods joining modes as opposed to standard harmony changes. Miles tries different things with modular playing arrived at its apotheosis in 1959 with his account of Kind Of Blue. Raised in the Bebop convention and educated under the sponsorship of Bird and others, Miles was presently prepared to lead. After a couple of solo records, Miles changed jazz into its next stage with his BIRTH OF THE COOL meetings, which were recorded 1949-50. These meetings took Bebop, with its quick running styled harmonies, which changed on each beat, to an increasingly modular idea and harmonies that changed each other measure, as in the tune Dig. As an examination, Miles shaped a nine piece band, with Mulligan, Evans and Lewis as arrangers and consolidating Gunther Schuller on French Horn. This caused the band to have a lighter and additionally loosening up sound. Miles himself would regularly utilize the flugelhorn and quieted trumpet. This sound appeared to be normal to Miles tone. In a split second recognizable, Miles tone had rich center register or potentially cooing, murmuring, quieted or mewling, wild as if destroying carelessness or delicate as a man stepping on eggshell s. Exceptionally conflicting to Miles demeanor, this sound was so delicate and basic it rang of a mystery side of Miles. Davis most radical veer from jazz convention came in the late 60s and mid 70s when, under the inebriating impact of such craftsmen as Jimi Hendrix and Sly Stone, Davis introduced the time of combination with a hot electric blend of foaming funk, unstable stone and grating jazz. The music raised a ruckus jazz idealists who were reluctant to acknowledge Davis vision for the ever-advancing type. In any case, rock fans were overwhelmed. The trumpeters 1970 combination masterwork, Bitches Brew, sold more than 4000,000 duplicates in a year, making it the greatest selling jazz collection ever. Despite the fact that Davis passed on Sept. 28, 1991, the trumpeting jazz titan keeps on affecting the contemporary music world. In 1962, Davis was chosen by the Readers into the Down Beat Hall of Fame.

The Public Sector Project Funded by XYZ Foundation Coursework

The Public Sector Project Funded by XYZ Foundation Coursework The Public Sector Project Funded by XYZ Foundation †Coursework Example Through this reminder, a preliminary is being done to break down the moral issue relating to the strategy choices which must be taken with respect to the false impression of the quantity of recipients being provided food under the open part venture financed by XYZ Foundation. Despite the fact that this issue is under the purview of the administration board and not the director, I am tending to this reminder to the manager keeping taking into account the Organizational good to follow with the expert chain of importance included. The works done in continuation with my forerunner to detail a venture proposition so as to draw in assets from XYZ establishment has uncovered that the past office conveyor had expanded the quantity of recipients of the undertaking to a tally of 10%. This was done so as to satisfy the reserve receipt guidelines set by the subsidizing office. On the opposite side this reserve was unavoidable for the subsequent exercises of the task and the association too. Being the new executive, I investigated the moral issue against the ethical gauges. To decide the ethical measures of the moral issue, the entire situation was gone through the Cooper’s moral dynamic model whose initial step was the view of a moral issue which was at that point figured it out. The subsequent stage included the depiction of the circumstance and the meaning of the moral issue. Here the preliminary of the past director to extend figures which was more than the genuine ones out of a situation of Institutional and Project emergency was the circumstance of concern. The moral issue was plainly characterized as whether to keep on the advertised figures in order to guarantee the store receipt or to supplant the figures with the genuine ones. ID of the choices was the third stage in Cooper’s moral dynamic model. On assessment of the characterized moral emergency, there were not many potential other options. One of it was to have determined endeavors so as to accomplish the expanded number of customers when the award was authorized. Another conceivable choice was the remedy of the figures to real ones and the last option was to prop the proposition up with the advertised figures. The last advance in Cooper’s model was the assessment of every option contrary to moral standards and moral standards. The practicability of the principal elective was in question as the award proposition was expected on a sooner date and the hole in the swelled number of customers couldn't be accomplished when of proposition accommodation. The subsequent option could have anyway brought about the dismissal of the reserve prompting difficult issues with the account of the association and the venture too. Despite the fact that the choice to prop the proposition up with the advertised figures ready questions on the practice barrier or the exposure test, it was additionally assessed contrary to the moral standards. The ethical consistency with the Social measures and the authoritative norms could be guaranteed with straightforwardness in the expectation of the alternative. Anyway the rule of utilitarianism validated the lacunas of the recommended arrangement as it tended to the validity of the social reason expected and it end up being a progressively functional arrangement with not alarm hints of Amoralism. Ladd’s idea of good duty John Ladd has depicted conventional associations as machines so as to underscore the limitations on their alternatives for action.(Risser,2006). He attempts to mention that associations a few times are bound to strategies and approaches and a few times legalities prompting resistance with the ethical commitments to the general public and towards the concerned specific assignment. His point is totally settled upon as the non adaptability of the procedural endeavors of associations regularly will in general move out and react according to the moral and good necessity at specific purpose of time and concerning the particular advancement included. He further contends that an association must be equipped for non-modified conduct, for example, reacting valuably to moral fault or objection, to qualify as an ethically mindful operator Anyway his point that associations have neither good duty nor moral rights can't be totally consented to, as there exists numerous frameworks even with in the advanced corporate world to address such issues. The idea of Corporate Social Responsibility is from a more extensive perspective a guide to this. Anyway the facts demonstrate that the setting of morals from an individual point of view is a lot simpler to screen and is more adaptable than the Context for Ethics in the Organization. Be that as it may, this doesn't mean idealism of the associations from the obligation of adhering to the good and moral measures. Ladd likewise relates the authoritative good point of view to a machine which is just equipped for playing out those capacities that it has been structured or modified to attempt. Anyway this way of thinking is additionally tested in an amusing manner, by the up and coming chance of Artificial knowledge of the cutting edge PCs. A contrast essay about two professions

From my youth, I have been keen on the social field. I have a fantasy to be a media individual who works inventively with media-related work. In this way, as my future calling, I am thinking about two occupations, one of them is Art Director, and the other is Advertising, Promotions, and Marketing Manager regularly called showcasing chief. That are my fantasy callings in future. Seriously the two occupations are connected with innovative and media businesses, and the two employments are generously compensated have same workplace. Obligation of a craftsmanship chief and a promoting supervisor are more similar than we may might suspect. The two callings manage the huge gatherings of individuals. A craftsmanship chief works with different creators and craftsmen, and then again, a showcasing supervisor plans projects to produce enthusiasm for the workmanship executives, deals specialists and money related staff individuals. A craftsmanship executive produces pictures for TV, radio, film, ad, or computer games. For instance, a movie workmanship executive completes the films aesthetic vision as characterized by the creation originator. The individual in question portion of the designer who responsible for plan the sets and the development supervisor who genuinely assembles the sets. A craftsmanship executive additionally designs and props experts to ensure the entirety of the components work, and a workmanship chief who is the contact for the embellishment group. Actually, craftsmanship executives are liable for the visual style, pictures, and the general fine art and formats to ensure everything utilized on the sets is inside the financial plan. Correspondingly, promoting supervisor plan projects to create enthusiasm for an item or administration. They work with workmanship chiefs, deals specialists, and monetary staff individuals. For instance, showcasing directors assess designs, which are draws or plans for an ad. In any case, the two occupations obligations, and duties are connected with nearly similar individuals and both are joined to one another. Craftsmanship chiefs, and advertising directors, both have pay structures that are acceptable contrasted and some different occupations. On the examination of the U. S. Authority of Labor Statistics, an Art Director’s â€Å"median pay in 2012 was $80,880 every year, or $38. Then again, a Marketing Manager â€Å"median pay in 2012 was $115,750 every year, or $55. 65 for each hour†. Furthermore, most workmanship chiefs, and promoting directors work all day. In any case, in 2012, â€Å"about two out of five showcasing administrators worked over forty hours for every week†. By and by, contingent upon installment and working hours, the two occupations are extremely appealing to me. Workplace is additionally another most significant portion for compering the craftsmanship chief, and promoting manager’s profession. A craftsmanship executive works for publicizing and advertising firms just as the movie and video businesses. In correlation, a promoting chief works in workplaces near money related choice administration. Advertising supervisors work under tension that is unavoidable when calendars change and issues emerge, yet cutoff times objectives despite everything must be met. Moreover, they work in publicizing organizations, advertising workplaces, and the paper workplaces. Truth be told a craftsmanship executive as a rule works in a quick paced office just as they regularly work constrained to fulfill exacting time constraints which is generally significant for this activity. Seriously, the two occupations have conditions dependent on their activity obligations which are fundamentally the same as. To sum up, compering the two employments duties, pay rates and workplaces has made appealing for me. Since they have a fabulous time and imaginative working territories. By the by, I might want to choose to be a showcasing director. Since it is an inventive profession. I realize I would be content with this fantasy calling.

No comma before or after a preposition

One of the most common grammatical errors on the ACT English Test and, to a slightly lesser extent, the SAT Writing Test is the use of a comma before or after a preposition (a time or location word). Common prepositions: Of, To, For, From, In, On, By, Between, About, With, Around, Across, Through, Over, Under This construction is virtually always incorrect, and any answer that contains it should automatically be eliminated. Note that even if the original version in the passage doesn’t contain it, one or more of the other answers might include it. Incorrect: The gentle rustling of leaves in the breeze, the crunch of twigs underfoot, and the eclectic mix of birdsong are the sounds one typically expects to hear while walking, through the forest. Incorrect: The gentle rustling of leaves in the breeze, the crunch of twigs underfoot, and the eclectic mix of birdsong are the sounds one typically expects to hear while walking through, the forest. Correct: The gentle rustling of leaves in the breeze, the crunch of twigs underfoot, and the eclectic mix of birdsong are the sounds one typically expects to hear while walking through the forest. Many wrong answers on ACT English involve this error; you can very often get down to two answers and occasionally down to one just by crossing options that contain it.

H.G. Wells His Life and Work

Herbert George Wells, more commonly known as H.G. Wells (September 21, 1866-August 13, 1946), was a prolific English author of fiction and non-fiction. Wells is best-remembered, however, for his famous science fiction novels and uncanny predictions about the future. Fast Facts: H.G. Wells Full Name:  Herbert George WellsOccupation:  WriterBorn:  September 21, 1866, Bromley, EnglandDied:  August 13, 1946, London, England  Spouse(s): Isabel Mary Wells (1891-1894); Amy Catherine Robbins (1895-1927)Children: G.P. Wells, Frank Wells, Anna-Jane Wells, Anthony WestPublished Works:  The Time Machine, The Island of Doctor Moreau, The Wheels of Chance, The Invisible Man, The War of the WorldsKey Accomplishments:  Pioneered the science fiction genre and wrote more than 100 books during his 60-plus year career.   Early Years H.G. Wells was born on September 21, 1866, in Bromley, England. His parents, Joseph Wells and Sarah Neal, worked as domestic servants before using a small inheritance to purchase a hardware store. Known as Bertie to his family, Wells had three older siblings. The family lived in poverty for many years as the store provided a limited income due to poor location and inferior merchandise. At the age of 7, after Wells suffered an accident that left him bedridden, he became a voracious reader of everything from Charles Dickens to Washington Irving. When the family store finally went under, his mother went to work as a housekeeper at a large estate. It was there Wells was able to expand his literary horizons with authors such as Voltaire.  Ã‚   At the age of 18, Wells received a scholarship to the Normal School of Science, where he studied biology. He later attended London University. After graduating in 1888, Wells became a science teacher. His first book, the Textbook of Biology, was published in 1893. Personal Life Wells married his cousin, Isabel Mary Wells, in 1891, but left her in 1894 for a former student, Amy Catherine Robbins. The couple married in 1895. Wells first fiction novel, The Time Machine, was published the same year. The book brought Wells instant fame, inspiring him to embark on a serious career as a writer. Famous Works Wells long- and short-form fiction falls into many genres, including science-fiction, fantasy, dystopian fiction, satire, and tragedy. Wells penned plenty of non-fiction, including biographies, autobiographies, social commentaries, and textbooks as well as social commentary, history, biography, autobiography, and recreational war games. Wells 1895 debut, The Time Machine, was followed by The Island of Doctor Moreau (1896), The Invisible Man (1897), and The War of the Worlds (1898). All four novels have been adapted for film, however, one of the most famous renditions of a Wells work was by Orson Welles, whose radio adaptation of The War of the Worlds was broadcast on October 30, 1938. The reports that many listeners, not realizing what they were hearing was a radio play rather than a news broadcast and were so terrorized at the prospect of an alien invasion that they fled their homes in fear has since been debunked. However, the panic story was accepted for years and became one of the most enduring urban legends ever perpetrated in the name of a publicity campaign. Death H.G. Wells died on August 13, 1946, at the age of 79 of unspecified causes (his death has been attributed to a heart attack or a liver tumor). Wells ashes were scattered at sea in Southern England near a series of three chalk formations known as  Old Harry Rocks. Impact and Legacy H.G. Wells liked  to say that he wrote scientific romances. Today, we refer to this style of writing as  science fiction. Wells influence on this genre is so significant that he, along with French author Jules Verne, share the title of the father of science fiction. Wells was among the first to write about such things as time machines and  alien invasions. His most famous works have never been out of print, and their influence is still apparent in modern books, films, and television shows. Wells also made a number of social and scientific predictions in his writing—including airplane and  space travel, the  atomic bomb,  and even the automatic door—that have since come to pass. These prophetic imaginings are part of Wells legacy and one of the things he is most famous for. Quotes H.G. Wells often commented on art, people, government, and social issues. Here are some characteristic examples: I found that, taking almost anything as a starting point and letting my thoughts play about with it, there would presently come out of the darkness, in a manner quite inexplicable, some absurd or vivid little nucleus. During the 1960’s the infection was largely due to unprotected sex; the victims contracted the disease mostly due to unprotected sexual contacts from others who already had the virus. It became an epidemic and even pandemic. Those infected eventually died from HIV/AIDS as it came to be known, and there was no known treatment that could lead to cure. Only palliative (supportive) care was of any help and mostly to deal with the severe symptoms of fever, cold sweats and pain, and vulnerability to†¦show more content†¦About twenty five years ago a new illness caused serious and severe symptoms that affected people all over the world and there seemed to be no treatment or a cure. â€Å"HIV has spread relentlessly from a few widely scattered à ¢â‚¬Å"hot spots† to virtually every country in the world, infecting 65 million people and killing 25 million.† (AIDS status challenges of the epidemic, 2015) AIDS was one of the national and international spread of diseases. Regions that were heavily affected were sub-saharan Africa, The Caribbean, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The illness often affected young males and increasingly, there were more men who had sex with men (MSM). Later, people who used drugs and shared needles became identified as high risk for developing HIV/AIDS. Without a treatment or a cure, the victims became extremely and overwhelmingly sick. They became even more debilitated in a relatively short period of time and eventually died from the devastating effects. The reason for the devastation seemed to be primarily due to the severe damage to the immune system by the virus which left the victim unable to fight back and recover. Because this was such a new disease, there was no known treatment or cure. Only supportive treatment could be provided until the scientific community, medical world, and helping groups worked to find out more about how to combat the new disease and to help

The home page content is presented below: Learning: This section would include the brief of what I have learnt in the class on design thinking and entrepreneurship. It would not include the module details but the brief on lessons learned from my curriculum. The topics explored here try to explain the connection between entrepreneurship and design thinking. It would also include the models that could be used by start-up organizations for bringing innovation in the organization. This includes exploration of innovation cycle, business models, frameworks, tools, etc. And topics like notion of creativity, role of creativity in entrepreneurship and innovation, role of designing in business, use of creativity in organizations, approaches to study creativity, organisational influences on learning creativity, and strategies that can be used for enhancing innovation through the use of design thinking. Self Analysis: This section includes my own analysis of the strengths and weaknesses considering my ability to become an entrepreneur and use design thinking for personal development and innovation. For self-analysis, some questions would be answered which would help me understand my goals, how I learn, and how my learning process could help in personal development. Another tool that is used for self analysis is SWOT in which I have explored the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats I have with respect to use of design thinking for innovation in start-up organizations(Bulman Schultz, 2013). Reflection: In this section, first the key outcomes of learning from the course on design thinking and entrepreneurship that include development of the skills required for developing a new business concept, learn skills and techniques required for critical thinking, and assessment of self for understanding my potential to use design thinking for innovating in an entrepreneurial setting(Chiranjeevi, 2009). Evaluation: This section would assess the self-analysis and reflective analysis to find out if the methodologies and techniques used in these two methods of learning and personal development have been effective for my personal development. The underlying models and theories that helped develop a plan for the analysis would be explored for justification Personal Development: This section would explore how learning in the course has helped me in personal development. This would be based on the insights obtained in the self-analysis and reflection. The insights would help me understand how the skills and concepts learned can help me in developing myself to better prepare for the business world and use design thinking for innovation(Hilliard, 2006). Action Plan: On this page, anaction plan including milestone dates for key events and activities would be developed. The objectives of this plan would be acquisition of knowledge, attainment of skills and behaviours required for personal development. The action plan would be prepared for learning and enhancement in the period of 6 months. Introduction This reflection report is prepared to reflect upon my studies on design thinking and entrepreneurship. First, a self-analysis is done on me for understanding my strengths and weaknesses as well as performance capabilities. For this, a series of steps defined as per the self-assessment methodology are used. The report also uses a specific reflection methodology using which the reflective process is carried out in specific number of steps. Self-Analysis Self-analysis would be conducted using a standard self-assessment methodology involving following steps: Defining purpose: The purpose of this analysis is to understand if I have the capability to use design thinking for innovation and as an entrepreneur in practice. Developing performance criteria: The criteria that would be used for assessing my learning skills would be my understanding of the concepts, my strengths with respect to the acquisition of skills needed and weaknesses that I need to overcome(Lucas, 2012). The assessment would involve answering a few questions like: What are my goals? My goals for learning design thinking for innovation in entrepreneurship are: Understand how design thinking works and learn to apply the same for innovation Explore how design thinking could be useful for managing innovation in start-up activities Explore the skills I have to understand if I am ready to use design thinking for innovation Develop skills required for application of design thinking for innovation Understand how design thinking is used by organizations to develop new products Learn the design thinking skills for product development(McGregor Cartwright, 2011) What resources can be used for achieving goals? I would need the following resources for learning and gaining skills to apply design thinking for innovation: Lessons taught in the class for learning the concepts Projects to work on application of design thinking for innovation Case studies and readings on use of design thinking so that I can learn how these are being practiced by companies Books on design thinking and on cases of companies using design thinking for new product development Video lectures teaching design thinking accessible online Practice assignments for product development using design thinking approaches(Schn, 1983) How can I show my progress? I can apply my design thinking to develop prototype of products which would reflect upon my progress in learning design thinking. I can also use the process for resolving existing business issues that I read about and if I can resolve any case then it will show that I have a good progress in terms of learning design thinking and gaining creative skills required for innovation. I would use the blog that I am creating to publish the design ideas that I would come up with as another mark of progress in the field. How can my learning from curriculum would help? The lessons I learned in my curriculum helped me to understand the fundamentals of design thinking such as creativity, problem solving, applied thinking, design thinking principles, business challenges such as growth, predictability, maintaining relevance, competition, standardization, creative culture, strategy and organization and design thinking approaches such as storytelling, , strategic foresight, sense making, maintaining relevance, value redefinition, experience design, humanization, rapid prototyping, and business model design. What are my weaknesses? I found myself weak in developing skills to empathise with users for understanding them and developing a real product or service prototype based on identification of solutions. What are my strengths? I discovered that I am good in defining problems, brainstorming for solutions and evaluating the innovation for its effectiveness which I can use for learning and using design thinking. Besides these, I have certain skills that can be productive for developing me for entrepreneurship such as: I am capable of gong through ups and downs in life and still have strength to cope without losing patience or hope. Once have a goal set in my mind, I can be very focused on what I want to achieve. For my current growth path, I am very particular that I want to learn about product development and use design thinking to come up with new product ideas. I am good with people and can understand them well which can be useful while I learn to practice empathy for understanding consumers I also good with defining problems that I am facing clearly which would again be very useful in exploring the challenges that I can come up with the solutions for by applying design thinking(Verplanken, 2003) What are the opportunities to learn and use these strengths for personal development? I can use the concepts and principles learned about the design thinking in the real scenarios for the development of innovation when I join a start-up company or start my own. For better learning and practice, I can join a start-up firm as it has more openness to innovate and thus, I would be able to use design thinking to practice it for bringing innovation in the company. This way, I will not just get the practice but would also get opportunities to learn how these companies make use creativity for bringing innovation in their products and services. What are the threats that I am likely to face in the process of development? Threats I can face that would hinder my personal development with respect to the development of the capacity to innovate using design thinking include: If I do not get an opportunity to work for a company that is innovative but a company that uses traditional methods for development and are not open to using creativity, my learning would be hindered and thus, I would lose my capability to use creativity and bring innovation Another threat that I may face is my incapability to learn to use creative techniques of design thinking for bringing innovation Determine performance attributes: I explored the subject and my own learning to identify the current weaknesses and strengths that I have with respect to development of the design thinking capability. I explored myself around my capabilities to give the best in every stage of the design thinking process including empathy, problem definition, brainstorming for ideas, prototype development and innovation evaluation. Determine and collect criteria evidences: I need to learn and develop my skills of understanding the stakeholder needs and developing prototypes of products or services involving design thinking. Based on the understanding of self and the lessons learned, this self-assessment report was prepared(U.S. Department of Education, 2014). Reflection To be able to reflect upon my learning about design thinking for innovation and entrepreneurship, a reflection methodology can be used which identified steps that goes into a reflection. The steps include recognition of a need, exploration of past experience, documenting of the lessons learned, organization of lessons into specific themes, identification of key lessons and their generalization, determination of any need for other processes and evaluation of the quality of reflection. Need: The need of this reflection is to explore if I have sufficiently understood the concepts of design thinking to be able to contribute in a real scenario of design development or do I need to gain some more knowledge and experience Experience: Design thinking has become popular in organizations that try to use it for innovate products, services, and processes. In practice, what I have observed is that designing thinking is more than actual thinking to politics of involvement caused by influences and more than the question on how design thinking helped innovate companies, I could see design managers talking more about things like who owns design, how much of design thinking to do and who has to be sold the design to. Lessons Learned: Design thinking is a term with controversies as I could see a variety of different views of the creative process of design thinking. I identified some common themes in all the explorations of design thinking such as: Not necessarily for creatives: The design thinking can be used even by those who are not originally creative in their endeavours for innovation in business. Stakeholder perspectives consideration: Another theme suggested that design thinking needs one to explore ideas considering the perspectives of the final users or stakeholders in case of development of a product or a service such that the probability of failure is reduced. Problem Solving: Design thinking is a problem solving approach that is human centred such that user problems are explored. Explore possibilities: It is about exploring possibilities such that they are presented to the stakeholders to identify what would work best. It is an iterative process which keeps on improving the prototype after suggested improvements after testing. As I understood that design thinking goes through a series of steps including empathy for customers, definition of problems, exploration of ideas, prototype development, and evaluation of innovation through feedback, I discovered that empathy was the most important step and also a difficult one. It needs gathering of a lot of information and development of confidence in own capabilities to be able to understand the needs of customers. Design thinking in layman terms needs asking of certain questions to move from the stage of confusion about innovation or idea generation to the actual prototyping. These include asking what we are studying, explore what if possibilities, identifying what would work based on which a prototype can be made and tested for its capability to solve the problems identified. Design thinking can help find new solutions to traditional problems using the insights obtained from the data analysis which is the first point of development. The power of data analysis is used for understanding what Power of data can help understand the end users or consumers for those a product or service is being developed. With design thinking, newer challenges of the modern business world can be solved. During my learning, I came across some of the companies that used design thinking to solve their problems such as AirBnB. AirBnB was facing major issues at the start-up stage as it was not able to make enough sales and the founders were facing some financial crunches. When they used design thinking, they collected data from the people who were travelling and were looking for lease placed. The company discovered that the pictures posted on the website were taken by the house owners who were not skilled in photography skills and thus, the photographs did not appear very attractive when they were used for advertisements. However, after this discovery, the company sent its own people to take some good photographs of some homes that were used in the advertisements which got the company huge number of visitors and the business that had slowed down got the momentum with this innovative approach(Mootee, 2013). PG is another organization that I followed to explore how they used design thinking for innovation. I found that PG was known for using design thinking to solve its business problems. The company had taken an initiative to promote design thinking among those who were not the designers(Chiranjeevi, 2009). An example of the use of design thinking by PG team for product innovation was the makeover of its herbal essences range. For gathering empathetic data to understand consumers of herbal products, the company asked consumers to shop for the items that they considered herbal and they were presented with the below the ground product ranges such as health food and herbal tea. A new equity of PG herbal range was created considering the colour, logo, and shape based on the how these characteristics are perceived by consumers(Cohan, 2010). I also learned how design thinking is perceived and practiced in corporate through exploration of the views of the popular design experts from the University. Major findings from this exploration were: Design thinking utilizes abductive logic to invent a future through intuitive thinking which is more creative than analytical deductive or inductive reasoning Observation is one of the best tools of design thinkers that can help an observer understand consumers more deeply and holistically. Imagination can be another great tool of innovators as they can see people looking at or using products to understand how innovation would fit a real scenario(Green, 2009) Evaluation To see if the reflection and self-analysis have been effective, they have to be evaluated to determine if the processes have been effective(Smith, 2011). The self-analysis was done using some questions that explored the process of learning and my own skills. With this approach of self-assessment, I was able to discover my strengths and weaknesses with respect to my capability to learn and apply design thinking and act as an entrepreneur in a real scenario. With my weaknesses known, I can create a learning path for myself so that I can learn and develop myself professionally to become a better business person or a better performer in the field of innovation. The assessment also helped me understand where my strengths are in terms of design thinking which would be useful for me to learn design thinking concepts fast. I now know that I do not need to learn everything from scratch but I already have some skills needed for my development of design thinking which I can use during application of thinking but I do have the need to learn and practice more of empathy so that I can better understand the users through the exploration. Reflection helped me identify design thinking methods like observation and imagination that are essential to become creative so as to bring innovation. I am not a person who has creative skills like imagination. I have never tried observation for understanding consumers but now after knowing the importance of observa tion, I can use it as a practice while observing the world which would help me do innovation in the product development and other business processes that I am keen to work on(NHS, 2012). Conclusion In this reflective report, I explored my learning in the field of design thinking in innovation and entrepreneurship which helped me identify what I have learnt over the course and what skills I have or have gained through the curriculum that can help me shape my career. It also helped me identify my strengths that I would use for my personal development and my weaknesses that I plan to improve upon for my personal development. For this, I have developed an improvement plan for 6 months which is presented below in four parts that include identification of my strengths, priorities, development needs and action steps. This plan is created assuming that it would begin from the next week of this month on 11th Oct 2017. Discuss in your groups the following questions relating to the assignment scenario: Specify which public or private IP address blocks will be assigned to different modules of your network. The specific type of IP address bloc that will be used in our top-down design network for the auto fishing group would be the fourth version internet protocol (IPV4).We choose IPv4 because its protocol is connectionless and is the best effort based. Design a plan for integrating the different routeing protocols into the network design. A sample network plan which I would use to integrate the different protocols of routeing is as outline below.' Building one would be the protocol of auto-fishing site centre Building two would be marine and fisheries training centre Protocol Building4- Unmanned Aerial Vehicles protocols C) What are the most important assets of your design that must be protected with security mechanisms? The most vital asset that requires protection is the data centre room this is because it would contain databases of most customers, employees and clients What are the largest security risks that your network would face? The main security risk that might arise from this designed network could be the presence of hackers who might undermine the network device security like the router, switch, IDS and the server (Gaine s, 2010). Should Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) be enabled on the Cisco routers and switches? Yes, the Cisco Discovery protocol should be enabled on the switches and routers of Cisco to improve the connectivity and inventory information on fishing practises. Discuss the following questions relating to the assignment in your group: List the devices and programs required for your campus network design. Some of the devices and programs that would be needed for my network design at the campus include: the top-down network core layer which ensures optimal transportation in various sites and also a routeing system of high performance (Rassweiler, 2012). This would cost about a hundred dollars. the top-down network distribution layer which assist in providing connectivity that is policy based between core and access layers (Rassweiler, 2012). This would cost about seventy dollars. Discuss the following questions relating to the assignment in your group: Select the routers required for your enterprise network design and make a list. Some of the entreprise routers which are applicable to this case scenario include: 1800 1900 Series Integrated Services Router-477 dollars 7200 Series Router-507 dollars ASR 1000 Series Router 873 dollars 7600 Series Router-800 dollars J-Series Services Routers- 1000 dollars Discuss the following questions relating to the assignment in your group: Investigate the possibility of using wireless solutions as much as possible in your design. There would need to make use of the wireless solutions where there are laxity and scarce use of the available ethernets during the designing of this auto-fishing network project (Rassweiler, 2012). What are the new security concerns in your design? One major security concern is in the fact that unauthorised person may retrieve or access a companys vital information where there is the use of radio signals as a wireless means of networking (Gaines, 2010). Another concern is the fact that wireless solution is very vulnerable to the denial of service attacks which slow the performance of most WLAN (Rassweiler, 2012). Discuss the following questions relating to the assignment in your group: Write a test plan for your designed network. 1.Product analysis 2.Test strategy 3.Coming up with the testing criteria 4.Stating the network design objectives 5.Planning of resource 6.Determining the deliverables of the test. Discuss the following questions relating to the assignment in your group: Write the project goal for your network design project. The goal of this network project is to ensure that the operations of these designs are reliable, secure and up to speed as per the demands of the customers. Write the project scope for your network design project. This network design is initiated to serve the departments of auto fishing that are located in Darwin. Its establishment will be a merit to both the fishermen ant the intermediary group, not to forget the customers at large (Rassweiler, 2012). An Unlikely Murderer Essays - American Folklore, Axe Murder

An Unlikely Murderer Essays - American Folklore, Axe Murder An Unlikely Murderer One would think that crimes with such a gruesome nature would be committed by a hatchet-wielding maniac as put by Russell Aiuto (1). But rather, the suspect was that of a church-going, Sunday-school-teaching, respectable, spinster-daughter(Aiuto 1). The young woman, Lizzie Borden, was charged with the killing of her father and stepmother, a crime worthy of Classical Greek tragedy (Aiuto 1). Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to research the life and trial of Lizzie Borden in order to determine if she was innocent or guilty of parricide, the murder of ones parents. It was on the 19th of July, 1860, that in Fall River, Massachusetts Lizzie Borden was born (Radin 268). She grew up there alongside her father, Andrew Borden. He was a very prosperous man, starting out as the towns undertaker and ending up investing his profits into the textile industry. When Lizzie made it in to her teens, Mr. Borden was worth $500,000 (Paton 432). Being as prosperous as he was, he only had to places to spend his money: his two daughters, Lizzie and her older sister Emma (Paton 432). Andrew Borden also had a wife, Abby Borden. She was the stepmother of Lizzie and Emma and a hated one at that. Whenever Lizzie and Abby were together in the house, which happened a lot, the atmosphere was electric (Paton 433). Abby was called Mrs. Borden, and Lizzie did not eat when Abby was around. Their relationship was so distant, that Lizzie only spoke to her when it was needed (Paton 433). Lizzie first despised Abby when Andrew decided to purchase Abbys sisters home and have it in his wifes name. This prevented his sister-in-law from getting evicted, but Lizzie saw it as a chance for Abby to take advantage of Andrews money (Paton 433). What most people do not know, is that Lizzie had somewhat of a criminal record before she was charged with the murder. The first was committed in her own home. She had reported to her father that some of Abbys stuff had been stolen by a thief. Andrew called the police but stopped them in the middle of their investigation because he noticed that the only person that could have committed the crime was Lizzier herself (Paton 433). Perhaps the only reason Lizzie may have had any hate for her father was when he laid her pigeons to rest. Intruders had broken into the garden of the Bordens, where Lizzies pigeons were held. Mr. Borden assumed that the intruders were after the birds and therefore, decapitated the birds with and ax (Paton 434). Could this be a sign? 1892 was a year of record breaking heat. It seemed to have been 12 months of total summer (Paton 434). That summer, Lizzie bought small doses in several visits of prussic acid, a lethal drug. The drugstore owners started to notice, which caused her to make her visits more discreet (Paton 434). The day of August 4th was a day that would make history. It started out normal. Emma was not in town, and there was a guest staying in the house, Uncle John Morse. Bridget Sullivan, the maid, was up with Uncle John as she did her daily chores. She stopped short, however, because of a sickness she had had recently (Paton 435). Then, with John gone into town and Bridget cleaning the windows, the murders happened. At 9:00 AM, Abby Borden was killed. With nothing more worse happening, Andrew Borden was then killed two and a half hours later, at 11:30 AM (Sams 1). There were 20 wounds from a sharp instrument on Abby and only 10 on Andrew (Paton 432). Lizzie supposedly saw only her father dead. She ran to the neighbours and cried that her father had been killed. She said her mother had gotten a note, asking her to go aid an ill person. So obviously, Lizzie did not know that Abby was in the house dead. The police got there, and they found Abbys corpse in a bedroom. Then for some odd reason, Lizzie remembered that she may have heard her come back in to the house earlier (Paton 436). Lizzies alibi was rather odd. She said she had went out in to the outbuilding

The character of Cleopatra Essay Example

The character of Cleopatra Essay Example The character of Cleopatra Paper The character of Cleopatra Paper How Cleopatra acts when Antony is away reveals a lot about her character and how she feels about herself and Antony. The scene starts off with Cleopatra asking Charmian for a narcotic so that she can sleep out this great gap of time that her Antony is away. She is thinking about Antonys every move Stands he, or sits he? and speaks jealously of the horse that he may be sitting on. Horse back riding is associated with sexual intercourse, and she speaks of how the horse should be proud to hold Antony. She talks of how the horse would not know who it is taking, that Antony is the demi-atlas of the world meaning he holds half the world, and is the ultimate soldier equipped only with his arm and a light helmet. She then starts talking about herself and Antony, she is very complimenting to herself, but explains that she is feeding herself most delicious poison when she has the thought that Antony is thinking of her. She carries on to say this self-flattery is, although nice, not good. She talks vividly of how she feels love pinches and bruises, showing her violent side but also an erotic side. She then starts to be hard on herself, asking why Antony would ever think of her, she calls her self black, which is unattractive to the Romans. This is confirmed before hand where Philo describes her as tawny referring to the colours of gypsies and gypsy ways (magic and witchcraft). However to console herself almost, she speaks of her former lovers, Caesar and Pompey and how they saw her and treated her. These sudden changes in the subjects she chooses to speak about shows her ever-changing personality. First she speaks of how Antony must be thinking about her, then that he isnt, then how he must see her in a bad way, and then how her former lovers adored her. Shes a very confusing character, who even Antony will probably never figure out. Alexas interrupts here, a messenger from Antony, to present an orient pearl to Cleopatra. Cleopatra seems happy with Alexas message from Antony but continues to question him about Antony. What, was he sad, or merry? Alexas explains to Cleopatra that he was neither sad nor merry. Cleopatras response to this is interesting as she justifies this information in favour of herself and Antony. She says that he cannot be sad as people look up to him, but he also cannot be merry as it shows people he wants to be in Egypt. He shall have every day a several greeting, Or Ill unpeople Egypt, this extravagant, expression is her response to Alexas when he questions why she sends so many messengers, (twenty several messengers per day). It means that she loves Antony beyond all other concerns. Cleopatras language is serious yet exaggerating, it could be seen in a preposterous way, for example Or Ill be damned. However it is still a very violent expression, revealing Cleopatras unethical ways of dealing with certain situations. Her violent response to Alexas would scare most men off a woman, but not Cleopatra, she is explained by Enobarbus that she makes hungry where she most satisfies later on in the play.
